I hear ya on the "seen bigger one's"...the bloody buggers just don't bite! I got this one in Lac Vieux Dessert. It is a border lake between Mich/Wisc. Once while fishing island lake in western upper mich. I had a what seemed like 6 foot tiger follow up and made one pass at my 12" perch spinner.....and she missed! I was stoked!! Also knew I had no chance of catching that fish that day....

Well it is ready for break in. Been working feverishly on this to make sure it gets done in time. There is a few months of winter left yet but there are many other planes that need attn. as well. So glad this phase is over....we seems to be anyway. As soon as the weather is warm enough I will start breaking this thing in. Going to start setting up D/R's and expo's and throttle curves now. This is where the swearing starts. I made the wooden stand off on my mill and it went great! I will make more if someone needs one. Kevin

Well I got her fired up today and she ran great! Didn't have time to do any break in yet...just fired it up...grinned....grinned...still grinning Too much others stuff to do to go any further today. Only had a 30 minute window to put wings and tail on and fire it up.....let it purr....hear top end....bring her down to an idle for about 30 seconds and off with the ignition. I finally did it! Give me something to dream about tonight Maybe tomorrow will be a sick day...cough cough.... Kevin

WHoooot! Got the throws set up this evening. Rained all day so I cleaned out a spot in the garage and put it all together. Got all the endpoints, expos and d/r's for the ailerons and rudder and just the end points so far on the elevator halves. Need more reading for grouping the elevator halves to work in harmony. Something is not clicking in my head just yet....

Hahaha! Nice one Kevin, it certainly does. Saw a lot of bigger planes up close at a show today and the SC seems tiny in comparison.

Well no maiden today. I brought this plane and the USL 120 tot he field. Knowing before I left that the wind was supposed to be around 15mph or so with a few gusts. Well according to the weather channel it was supposed to subside by 3 so I made a dash for the field and set up both planes.....takes an hour or so. I am slow and take my time...swear I am 80 when you see me. Anyway I flew the USL 2 times and on 2nd flight I lost lift when the wind died abruptly upon landing (3 foot off the deck) and she nosed in. All it did was break the ends of the prop. It was a slow crash....more of a cart wheel with a funky touch. No other damage that I could notice. Might find something as I dig into it more.....who knows. So all in all it was a good day to BS with my pal and crash a plane that needed crashing. No it did not need crashing but it makes me feel better about it. Bruised ego has no cure....haha. Hoping to maiden on the next nice day....wind not gusting would be nice touch.
Later, Kevin

The 2nd battery finally got here! It came saturday morning. Since Alisha (GF) and the kids were out of town for the weekend I planned on installing the 2 packs, going dirtbiking, then getting my stuff ready for sunday maiden. Well turns out that saturday would be as far as I would get. Went out biking and crashed a bit. Tore my MCL and since then have been laid up, been to doctors (who all want to tug and yank on it to see it move!) got an MRI and waiting for results from it, Should know more tomorrow. Surgery or no surgery is the question. SO once again the maiden is delayed. So sorry to have to break the bad news....lol. Good side of it all....building a new P-51! Got it most of the way already. Been working on it since monday eve. Will get a thread made about it soon.
Later fella's. Happy flights!
