Weather is looking good for the next couple of days. I'm off work this week so have made a couple of depron hacks to maiden, possibly today : EDIT: Maidened both. The wing is a nice flyer, very stable yet has a bit of go in it when opened up. Currently fitted with a 6x4. I think I'll throw a 7x4 on it and give that a go as it takes a while to pick up speed. Managed to also hover to a landing taking about 30 seconds to travel a few yards to my feet. The delta (aka Mach3) is a different story. Responsive is an under-statement due, probably, to the dual control surfaces on each side, and especially with the two behind the prop, giving thrust vectoring. The breeze tipped it over on approach, so a nose job is required. Both good fun tho! ;D

Man, that delta looks fun! Made from plans or 100% scratch?

BTW: why did you go with the wire pushrods in the wing? I tried something similar on the SC with that same HXT servo and it seemed it was too much for the gears so I moved the servo and used traditional pushrods.

Sorry for not getting back on this earlier. In answer to the questions: Both from free plans found on rcgroups. The wing is called a Divinity (which is quite apt seeing as I built it on Easter Sunday). Heres a link to the design www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1023254&highlight=divinityI'm not sure if mine is 42" WS, as a mate made one before me and I used his printed plans. I'll measure it and post later. His is a KFm2 as he didn't later in the thread that you need to cut 4 step parts rather than just two as original instructions. He let me fly his and I had to make one. Mine has KFm4. This link explains what this KFm stuff is about www.rcgroups.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1574803The little bird is called a Mach3, and the plans can be found in this thread: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=508902&highlight=harpycatThe pushrods on the wing are what are known as snakes (nylon in nylon) on this side of the pond, and saved having to servo's further out. There isn't any greater force required by the servos to move the control surface. I had some spare so they seemed ideal for the job. More info : The wing flys on a 1000mAh 3S, driving a Emax2812. The Mach3 uses 800mAh 2S packs driving a Emax2805 (the higher Kv one).

That Cat is mine! I'll see if I can get a power system from a friend's crashed Citabria and pick up some foam later and build it! It looks so attractive. ;D

Here's a quick vid of the wing in flight. Apologies for the choice language! I managed a lot slower and closer fly-bys on second flight, no one videoed it WS is 40 inches.

Woo! I got inspired today by some boredom and here's the result: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1230656It's my first build from plans so it's been tricky and a learning experience at the same time but I'll be modifying some things that don't seem to fit just right. The plans are free so the effort (or lack-thereof) put into it is justified and that just adds a new lever of fun to the experience. I'm waiting on that power system from the Citabria to see what kind of motor it is. I'm thinking it'll be of a low KV and won't have the speed the HarpyCat needs. If so, I'll get some stuff from HK and trust everything will work.

by the way, ging, what COG worked best for you? No mention of it in the plans...

by the way, ging, what COG worked best for you? No mention of it in the plans... For the Mach3 or Wing? The Mach3 is set as per the RCG thread (post #470), the wing is set 7.5" back from nose, IIRC. You are going to have some fun with the Mach3 you built, 16" WS, that'll be a dot on the horizon in no time at all. I'd suggest lots of expo too. Have you done the split TV tail piece as per Chara's idea?

Necro time. Erwin, did you fly your Mach3, and erm, did you crash it? Mine's still sitting in the shop with a nose that looks like a boxer. This may be a spring project.

No, sir! That was my first foamie build and I ended up tossing it because of my lacking knowledge of scratch-building foam models. lol I built a few of my own design after that and now it's how I spend most of my RC-time. The Mach3 is still on the back of my mind and I'd love to build it right sometime in the future. We'll see. Check out a fun park jet I built with poster board: www.maydayrc.com/sencond-flight-of-the-black-jet
