I did it. I really did it! Maidened the Cub today while I had the chance, and, the wind dropped! Been waiting for an age for the right opportunity. Bleddy terrified at first, but she knew more about flying than I did. A couple of bumpy landings, and one where it wanted to play hide and seek in a chain link fence covered by bushes! No damage done luckily. I'd like to go back out there later but the windage is on the increase now. We'll see? No excuse now though and looking forward to having another flight (must get another battery, or two?) Swapped my Nitro off roader for a Graupner T28 but I think I'll need a bit more air time with the Cub first.

It rained the last 3 days of June...it has, thus far, rained 14 out of the 16 days of July
Yesterday and today were beautiful days, But windy .
I have not flown because it is so wet. I could fly my X2 heli and quad, but do not want to get the electronics wet in the grass.
Calling for more rain tonight and suppose to get really hot, around here that normally means more Wind and storms/rain
I have not flown anything in awhile ( which for me, makes when I do fly harder )
I did build my other Yak and installed a SAFE Rx w/ AS3X in it to see what it does with the some wind, but it is To Much Wind to even try
at a stand still for now.
Hope others are getting to fly

Raining in Gloucestershire, UK this morning. The previous 3 days have been calm, no wind. The moment I have the parts or the time to go flying it tips down with rain!

Still hot as all get out but, great flying over the weekend. SuperCub, SportCub, combat planes. Went through every battery I own Saturday and Sunday mornings.

I also flew yesterday, all three planes and a total of ten charges.
Good fun, and I'm starting to get the hang of the Bonanza. Thanks to the extra weight, its a lot more stable on flaps than a foamie... And lovers of scale flight just have to love retracts.
Shame its been so tough to get time to fly at the same time the weather co-operates this year.

Maidened my HZSC this past weekend. First time ever flying an RC plane of any type. Started with baby steps. Taxiing for one battery. Then take of on pavement and flying for maybe 50 feet at (10 foot altitude) and landing in the grass. All the while in beginner mode, with a death grip on the panic button. Did that about 20 times. Then did it about 20 more times without the panic button. Actually all went pretty well. Sure...a few endo's in the grass. But good glide slopes both up and down and touch downs in the grass. All in low (70%) rate mode.
Gave it a rest for about half hour. Then did all those things again for 5 times each. Then gradually extended the time in the air and altitude and distance. Once I felt I had a "feel" for what I was doing, I decided to actually try flying. A rather nice take off. Up to about 75 feet. Back off the throttle to level it off. Set the elevator trim. About 400 feet out. Left turn with a little up elevator. "Hey...What do you know? It works!" Another left turn. "Wow! this is cool." back the other way about 600 feet. Keep the altitude up. I know I should try to land it...But since, I got it up there, I should keep flying a bit...before I waste the plane on a bad landing. So flew for about 4 more minutes. More throttle...less throttle...more/less elevator...see what the panic button does. (although didn't need it yet).
OK...time to see if I can land it. Make a slow and low fly by. OK got my pattern planned out. Lets go around for the final approach. Decided to not use the panic button until I needed it. My panic button test showed my that it leveled the glide slope too much. So hit the down elevator to get it low to the ground. Going real slow. Five feet up and in the right location, I hit the panic button and cut the throttle, to let the panic button teach me how a landing is to be done. Perfect landing and roll out on the baseball diamond. Just amazing.
So it's like when I shot my hole in one. I immediately had to tee up another ball to see if I could do it again. That was not successful. But I decided to take the SC up again, with a new battery. A couple laps around, again. And another good landing. This time with no panic button. And I tried to make my landings look like "panic button" landings. Several more ups and downs, and all arounds. No crashes. Took her home in one piece. A little dirty from the clay on the baseball diamond.
All in all about 20 flights over the weekend. Gave up the baseball diamond for the astro turf football complex at the high school. The biggest problem was the one time when I landed with the (very light) wind and the plane rolled out (a very log way) into a fence post. Shattered the cowling. But I think those things are supposed to break, so to protect the rest of the plane. Kinda like a "crumple zone" on a car. So I taped it up. Wont replace it yet, cause I'll probably bang it up a few more times in the next few days.
So that is my story. I am not a good pilot. A rank beginner, in the first degree. But that is a REALLY GOOD plane. And it makes the guy with the thumbs look pretty good.
I do need to acknowledge those that helped me with their posts about learning to fly, and videos on You Tube. And the time spent on the freebee simulators. All that gave me the baby step progression to help me conjure up the nerve to try this un-assisted. Thank you all.

Sounds like a fun time. Its good to take your time, and you seem to have an instinct for it.

Bit of flying in today, I woke early and charged no less than 10 batteries. Sadly the T28 isn't ready yet, I expect to finish it tonight, but the other three all saw some air time.
The breeze was a little awkward for the foam planes but it was lovely and the Bonanza saw the air for a couple of flights.
A good 2 hours in the early morning sun but the breeze got a little too strong for a recharge and go again.

A lovely sunny day today!, used up two 2200 batteries on the cub today. Tried a new field today, it was next to the River Severn however the breeze wasnt too strong - to be honest it was perfect for flying!. I just had to make sure I didn't loose range over the water! Now then... time to get the batteries on charge and prepare for the next flying adventure

Windy on Saturday but flew anyway. Had a great morning with the club and 5 planes in the air at once. But, there's always a but, while I was out at work, they scraped and leveled the runway which is 300' by 50'. It'll be dusty till we get some rain again and get some new grass growing. Was 104 degrees in temperature.

Guess i could make this thread go on forever with complaints
To Hot , to Windy , To rainy, To miserable, to frustrated, to angry, to tired,to worn out, to many crashes, to sick, to much pain, to many mosquito's to much this , not enough that, mowing grass more than flying over it...yada yada yada
that sums up this seasons actions thus far.
