I know, sad isn't it? Nothing but endless wind here anyway. Not flown for at least those two weeks, today gusting up to 50 mph! Thursday looking hopeful then back to wind again. Can't be like it all over the world though can it?

It is in Norfolk... not flown since I last posted and the Bonanza has yet to see a fully charged battery. Gutted about that. Had a lucky escape during the last flight, lost an aileron servo at speed and height on the Sportcub. Had a lucky escape during the last flight, lost an aileron servo at speed and height on the Sportcub. The AS3X made a landing on 3 channels interesting in wind... everytime it caught the plane the electronics tried to correct and sent it all over the sky! But got it down in one piece, just Had a similar experience but without AS3X. Aileron locked a bit down a couple minutes into the flight. Luckily I had been flying 3D for about a month and was somewhat used to using the rudder for control. After a few wild swings and dips I was able to stabilize/correct and....very....slowly....and carefully bring it in. No idea why the servo went bad. It was fine the previous battery. It sure was warm though-some kind of electrical failure.

Winds to strong during the day to fly ( as always ) I got one night in with my Night Flying Champ....BUT near the end it started cutting out.... replaced motor, no go....found ESC/Rx Board is bad.....will not work. A friend said they would send me one as they had plenty so maybe get it back in the air in a week or so. But since we are posting and talking planes have a NEW Product to show that HH is coming out with Has some New Technology, and still the SAFE as well www.horizonhobby.com/glasair-s-rtf-hbz8400It has SAFE-AutoLand-Holding Pattern and Virtual Fence It is in the old Glacier Sportsman airframe. Called the Sportsman S. Looks interesting. Going to Mod my SC battery box....can get battery in and out, But, fingers tired and sore, need to make it easier ( like everyone else ) has done. Other than that one Night, i have flown nothing since Last year. Also have several projects going...and none getting done. Seems 2015 so far is the same as 2014 was.....windy and little to No flying.

Getting really tired of the weather. 5" last night in about 2 hrs. Tornado's all over the place, as close as 10-12 miles last night. And, according to the weather, another 9 days of wet ahead.
Gimme some sun please!
Anyone heard from Coupe1942? I know he's up northwest of me.

Sounds really bad mate, at least all I've got is too windy. Tomorrow actually possible but I've heard the club flying field has been wrecked by cows. Been so long I think I'll have a look.

Hard to talk about the SC, when one never gets to fly it...anyway as always I am into everything at one time
I always wanted to get into Multirotors/quads
I always wanted to learn how to build and wire and program one.
I do have many components, but I also wanted to see one and fly it before I built one of my own
I did not want to buy a off the shelf type multirotor ( maybe better if i had-easier anyway ) BUT...Seems I rarely do the easy thing. I got DroneProz to make me one. It is a small , and light 250mm Viper Quad. It was all set up to go. But me not knowing what to do...going into the programming on OpenPilot wiped out what they had set up. so i had to redo it all ( there is the problem ) ......
With all the wind around here, seems trying to fly something in my even more limited yard would be a good thing The Trees block allot of wind so i thought Quad would be nice and I could fly it closer to the ground.
Anyway that was the plan. After hours of trying to understand what to do, it took forever to get my RX-Tx working right and I thought I had the Quad set up correctly....BUT after trying it out this evening, I learned it is not right at all.
On trying to take off, I noticed one Motor did not turn on when the others did...it took allot of throttle to get it going, meanwhile the other 3 would spin faster....which always resulted in the quad flipping over. Did that several times btw....so It is back to programming the Flight Board some more. I will figure it out sooner or later.
The learning process, can be frustrating, but learning about this newer technology is also enjoyable.
OpenPilot software is pretty straight forward ( well for most people anyway )...But when I thought I did the right thing I learned I missed something or did something wrong.
But that is what I have been doing while the winds blow. We had very nice warm weather,....than it stormed and it got cooler....and windier.
Today was sunny, windy and much much cooler...forecast is for weekend rain...so do not know when i will get to fly the SC or anything else....
I sat so long at the table trying to set up that quad, I am down in my back....
I think with the wind, i am going to fly my Heli....it pays little attention to the wind...I can fly it also in my yard, just have to be more careful.....with my sore back...I may just do that tomorrow.
And leave the quad alone for a couple days...to get my head wrapped around the programming again.
I have to make notes and go back over things a few times before i can get my mind around it, to be able to do it.
That is what i have been doing, while the winds blow.

How interesting h and seems like a great idea to me to have something challenging to do while the wind blows. I haven't flown for that reason for nearly a month and a bit like you, I made an impulse purchase of a metal detector. It doesn't matter if the wind blows with that!
Forecast is light breeze tomorrow (they've said that before!) but found out yesterday that cows have broken through our club field electric fencing, wrecking the parking area, patio boards and the take off/landing zone which was mown and rolled is churned up and covered in sh**! Quads and detectors seem quite attractive at the moment. lol

WELLLLL...............got three flights on my heli....
was having fun , finally....BUT it was short lived
Now one motor on the thing will not work....( they get hot easy - brushed motors you know )
But the motor failure goes along with the rest of the constant issues.
Still to windy to fly anything else....
Now i have to figure how to take this Heli apart and install another motor allot of things in the way and tiny parts as well.
seems it is one thing after another........gee whiz
