Any chance that we can get this thread to go to 10 pages?

Me too!
When I look out the window, I can't help but think it's a rather Soggy Sussex. Windy too the calmest wind forecast being Saturday at 8mph which I think is probably on the limit for enjoyable Cub flying. Roll on the calm balmy summer evenings...

Can't see the problem with getting your SC to Oz. Take your Tx on board as hand luggage and use it to control the SC flying alongside. Simples! ;D That is a great idea, with only about 200 problems thrown up to be overcome. The thing is, if I do that, wouldn't the aircraft I am travelling in be an invasion of my Super Cub's air space?

iandhunt,
Breakfast time for me, I am just thinking about reindeer sausage sandwiches, enhanced with just a smidgeon of whole grain mustard and tomato ketchup, the seeded bread lightly toasted, the aroma of freshly made coffee pervading the senses, a small glass of freshly squeezed orange juice to cleanse the palate. None of that muesli muck for me, it must be like eating shredded carpet. However as I haven't got any reindeer sausages, I will have to make do with a slice of toast and a cuppa.

Hi sussexflyer, It was superb yesterday, sunny and warmer, but the wind! Soggy, yes indeed, wherever you look around here it is just a load of mud. As you say, roll on those balmy Summer evenings. However, I will probably be out of action for a good part of this year, I have broken bone in my hand (an old injury that apparently did not heal) which has now reared it's ugly head. This means an operation and then of course the inevitable plaster and physio. As if to add insult to injury (no pun intended) I have a huge cyst inside my knee which has caused another large swelling on the inside of the knee. So, yet another operation and convalescence. That should take care of all the decent flying weather then and I should be fit to enjoy the Winter once more Ah well, plenty of time to restore the Cubs and practice on the flight simulator.

Sorry to hear of your maladies, Crazy Horse. At least it doesn't seemed to have affected your typing finger!
Seriously, is the broken bone in your left or right hand? If the left, you may be able to ask Mrs CH to operate the throttle for you, which of course is moved a lot less than the right stick.

Your post made me smile. Although I do rather like a bowl of muesli sometimes it did make me think of the worst breakfast I have ever had... At the risk of annoying our transatlantic Super Cub members, of which there are more than a few, the worst breakfast food known to man is grits. The first - and most definitely last - time I tried this was when I visited Texas ten years ago. The hotel offered grits and I thought, 'Well, why not?' It looked like grey finely pulverised concrete. And it tasted like, er, grey finely pulverised concrete. How can a country capable of putting a man on the moon invent grits? Now there's a thought, maybe they thought they would try moondust as an alternative!

If the left, you may be able to ask Mrs CH to operate the throttle for you, which of course is moved a lot less than the right stick. Ah, there is the problem, right hand. I suppose I could wedge the throttle with a cocktail stick of suitable dimensions whilst using the left hand to control the right stick. The other thing is though, with hand in plaster, no can drive as insurance would be invalid. Therefore can't get to flying type field. Lady CH could drive me I suppose, but I send her out to work in order to support my Super Cub hobby and also for the social interaction for her. Not only that, but her vehicular transportation will not fit the bill for transporting the Cub and she doesn't like driving my very suitable car for transporting aforementioned Cub to the flying area. Oh well, another cuppa then.

Ah, there is the problem, right hand. I suppose I could wedge the throttle with a cocktail stick of suitable dimensions whilst using the left hand to control the right stick. Well, a cocktail stick would not be necessary as the throttle is ratcheted. More of a problem would be controlling the right stick left-handed. However, as you have a flight simulator there may be a solution. Presuming it's the sort where you plug in your Tx, or at least a Tx of some sort with normal RC type sticks, why not practise flying the right stick with your left hand? I'm sure it will feel most unnatural at first (like writing with your left hand) but at least any crashes won't be on the Cub. Perhaps, after some practise you may be able to fly the Cub like this, though I agree transportation to the field may be another obstacle but one which I'm sure can be dealt with once you have the confidence to fly left-handed. If that goes well you could buy a Mode 1 Tx perhaps (i.e. with the ratchet stick on the right.) Just a thought.

Ah, someone is really reading this. I like to put these little "subtleties" in from time to time. (Referring to the cocktail stick business.) Of course the throttle is on a ratsh*t. All good advice sussexflyer, but I have the feeling that you are taking this all far too seriously. Convert to Mode 1? It would be like those silly people that drive on the right hand side of the road, no offence to the grit eaters amongst us. No, no, I can't bring myself to do it old chap, ratsh*t on the right? Never!

It would be like those silly people that drive on the right hand side of the road. Quite. Now that Ireland is in the EEC they have expressed a strong desire to drive on the right to bring themselves in line with most of the European countries. However, they appreciate that this is not a task to be taken lightly so will be introducing the change over a six-month period. The first week those with surnames beginning with 'A' will change, the second week 'B', and so on...

I feel sure that they would get it to work somehow, very innovative people, but I believe that they might get a few problems when they got to O' ;D

One note on grits.....I am from the North in the US. Grits are a southern US thing.....I tried them in basic training while in Texas... Let's just say this, anything with the word grit in it should be avoided on a culinary level. Every southernern I ever spoke with who ate grits only enjoyed them when they were so covered in sugar, syrup, butter, ketchup, whatnot, that you couldn't taste the little wet concrete clones....and don't get me started on sweet tea. Now pulled pork BBQ, that is a different and far tastier story! As for the Mode 1 vs Mode 2.....I can fly either hand, ambidextrous from birth, mode 2 for life!
