Added the flaps today. These things are great. I just need to sand the flap and wing a little, so when they are up they are in line with the ailerons. I slowed down the servos when the flaps are deployed. Here's a short vid of them in action. I know it's boring but I love it. ;D ;D exposureroom.com/members/Paulscc/e0b49bb990f645a19cdca4b43b1503ff/

Can you mix in a slow add of elevator to countact their effect as it becomes more evident or are you going to be active on the ele stick?

Awesome!!! Let us know how you like them in flight! They sure look good. Cheers Skivit. I will report back. Nick. I may have to mix elevator. I will go with stick input first and see how she performs.

At the risk of attempting to educate parents of parents about ovate spheroids, do it up high. I played with flaperons on the Gem over the weekend, only about 20%, but it made it lose altitude pretty quickly, quite startling.

This plane is fantastic. Flaps are amazing. Hi Paul, looks like a nice landing occuring, I dont mean to come across as rude i ask sincerely. You say the flaps are amazing and ultimately the plane is surely the same as an HZ SC though undoubtedly better construction, yet I have seen it said in this forum several times (or maybe I've read the same post several times ), that as the HZ SC is a foam park flyer that flaps are a waste of time. Therefore what is it that makes them good on the multiplex yet a waste of time on the SC? How did you slow the servos for the flaps did you use the turnigy servo slow down? also what make are those servos you can see in the vid, they look very similar to the towerpro ones I have. Did they come with the MPX? Nice vid of the flaps too, I know what you mean saying you love it albeit boring. I spent quite a time one evening watching the slowed down servos on the LG of a Spit on youtube, sad but true! ;D John

Good question John on the flaps. I suppose people say it's a waste of time because the SC comes in to land at a nice slow pace but so does the Funcub. With full flaps deployed its like a whole different plane, landings can be done at what feels like half the speed. There were times today that I could of picked the plane out of the air, it was virtually hovering in front of me. Maybe the big fat wing of the sc does not lend itself to flaps?? The servos are slowed down with my Tx. I can slow a servos range by 15 seconds. You can also slow each servo seperately, this gives you that nice scale staggered effect that you see on warbirds when the wheels go up. Remember the link I gave you the other day for the TX for sale, thats the Tx I use. The servos I'm using are the HXT 9g cheap jobs.

What a beautiful model! I love the flaps! I'll be adding fowler flaps to my SC soon and I'll use these hinges: www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8279&aff=125585 I think that WILL make a difference. Many people use tape for the flap hinges and, although it works well on ailerons, it doesn't extend the chord like fowler flaps do. Nice model, Paul. Love the tires!

Hi Erwin. Those hinges look very simillar. As you say these give a lot more travel than the normal hinge. I did have to extend my servo arms as well.
Back to Johns question earlier. Maybe the guys who have done the flap mod in the past with normal hinges were not getting the travel.
I've never heard of Fowler flaps before.
Cheers Paul

Very nice. I would love to see some video of a HZ SC with flaps, just to see why they would be a waste of time. They really work well on the MPX!
Thanks for sharing that Paul.
