LOL Great picture of the Spit with a bird, fantastic! Have wondered what would happen if an RC plane (Super Cub) and a bird mixed it up in the sky. Sort of like a truck and a car being in a colision, no doubt about which would be worse for wear and tear but still something to avoid.

Morning Nick. Hows the hangover? ;D You are correct that is a Red Kite. I have moved back to the UK now. I'm in Hazlemere, Buckinghamshire. The Kite was beautiful and LARGE. You cannot tell from the pics but I swear the Kite was bigger than the Spit (48 WS). It followed the plane for about a minute and then off it went. The Spit is pretty fast and turns can be quick. If it had been my Easystar I think the Kite would of had a foam lunch. It was an amazing experience. Of course, Hazlemere is in Bucks. I must've been drunker than I though I occasionally drive up the M40, getting on at High Wycombe so know that Red kites abound in that area. I once counted 24 in about a 5 mile stretch. Beautiful birds. Well done the RSPB for re-introducing them back into our countryside I say! The hangover wasn't enough to stop me flying on Saturday, although I discovered that straightened paperclips are not strong enough for aileron pushrods. Quite scary that they bent under WOT, inducing a flap effect and making the cub pretty hairy to control. I managed to get it down without crashing, so will need to replace those, and perhaps my B/L too. Excess of 1Kg of static thrust seems a bit much and tough to fly...
