Thought I would do the finishing touches on my Nexstar glow / electric conversion. It sat for about three months in the shop. Had a hard time being able to work in my shop the last few months, as I found my dog Zak of 12 years had passed away while I was at work and ever since I just couldn't work in there without glancing over to look for my Pal. I'll post some more pics as they happen......... Cheers Glenn Went from a single aileron servo to dual flap servos for more control of the flaps. Go-Slow ads slow movement Enlarged the flaps about 1.75" when I cut them out of the ailerons for added drag. Flaps are Analog servos and ailerons/rudder/elev are Digital MG.

Thanks ginginho. This is the cowl and motor mount system. 11 x 9 prop is a little too much, will prop down to 11 x 7 electric and should be right on ! Now it's producing 1026 input watts on 4s..... turning 11300rpm static. Cut the nose off the nitro front end and added the Electric cowl and changed the colors from blue to red, so it matched. Fly it low ! Flyer88

She's getting there. Just have to check & setup CG and run longer leads to the ESC and a control rod to the front steering and she 's complete ! Note no Nexstar decals and replaced factory foam wheels with some alloys wheels. Pimped ! Will remove dehiedral from wing eventually, they fly better I guess ? Regulator and battery is under main battery, ESC is under the center section. Battery is a 4S 4000mah. Still have to add lead to the front !! The servos are from Hobby City, standard Digital MG's...awesome very fast and cheap ! (except flap servos)

Ah-ha! I've just realised I've been flying one of these on a very nice (freeware version) of a sim, albeit a IC version. I'd recommend the sim to others if their PC is man enough to run it as it's the best one I've manage to find so far. It has the capability of a radio and binocular windows within the display, so you can see exactly how the plane reacts to any input, no matter how far away it is. It's called Realflight Generation3 (demo) and can be found at www.realflight.com/free-g3-demo.html

Adding ventilation is a critical step , and failure to do so can result in the electronics overheating and eventual failure. A shame for such a simple step. I should talk....I almost forgot to do it ! Glenn

Is your esc mounted right behind your motor? If so you might think about opening a small slit under the motor as well. More cooling the better for the motor and esc. It is the source of all other heat usually. If the motor gets hot it wastes power so it pulls more from the battery causing more heat again.

Mrmugens, the ESC is mounted in the belly of the plane just in front of the landing gear. There was no room in the cowl for a large speed control so I opted for this location. I think it should have enough cross flow of air to keep most of the heat down. We'll soon find out Glenn

Admiral: The electronics are from Hobby City and very affordable. Motor and ESC about $80. Voltage reg is $12 the 7.4V lipo is $12. Retail is at least 3-4 times that. It's theonly place I buy parts, specially with the dollar be low.
