i know the cheap prices on the HC planes can seem really attractive but the quality is sketchy at best. i know plenty of guys who have bought them but not 1 that has gone back for a second

OK Admiral. My reasons for buying are not because it's 90 bucks plus shipping making it $140-150. I have talked with a few guys that have this plane , they all say it is a very nice model. Read all the reviews about it as well. Receives high marks from almost everybody.

Just a chime in Got an Art Tech Yak 54 from HC a while back (way too much plane for my very limited flying abilities) and I promptly rolled it over after take off. Broke the fuse in half, stripped some teeth on the geared motor and the firewall tore off the front of the plane . Bottom line is that I should not have tried flying way too much more plane than I was capable of and that HC carries some low end/quality stuff (some is really decent though), so if you don't expect the star and moon from them you might get an occasional surprise when something is better than expected. PS That spit does look awesome, when Jerry flies it could you post a review? (or as General Garrison said in Black Hawk Down "a no BS assessment")

well i have no experience with the plane but if you have buddies that have it and seem to like it i say go for it. i always found it funny that almost every HC item has a five star review. the low low prices must just get people really excited i forgot about shipping charges too. when you price it out w/ shipping it rivals some of the stuff you can get here for around $150. i was not trying to talk you out of it, just letting you know of my experiences with HC arfs in general. but like pat said, you might just be surprised good luck with whatever decision you make admiral

No Problem Admiral. I can't seem to find a like Spit. The HK Spit has a 48.6" wing span, very similar to the Ripmax Spit. My family in the UK said they would purchase the Ripmax for me and ship it to me but the shipping was more that the model itself. Gonna take an educated risk and go for the HK Spit when funds are available.

Couldn't you let your folks grab one for you over here and then you can pick it up during your visit. IF you built it during your visit, you could show off your dogfighting skills to em as well

Great idea...my visit is on hold for the moment, I didn't know when I spoke of coming to the UK that I was going to have to have surgery on both of my ankles this year. One was operated on on the 24th Feb and I am recovering currently...then 8 weeks of therapy...then I have to do the right ankle, really sucks! Years of sports and athletics are to blame and maybe poor ankle genetics not to mention years of ice hockey.

My dad had to have both his hips done and I fear that's something that will get me in the future. The only problem with the idea is your baggage on the return flight, if you pick up a few other souvenirs over here. Jerry in the garden in a T-shirt, blimey, I wish it was warm enough here to do the same

Update: Jerry has (Wisely) decided the balsa P-51 is not the best "2nd" plane. And has ordered a FOAM P-51 by a company named Venom. Foam is easy to fix so I think this is a wise move, Hate to see him wreck that beautiful World Models P-51!

That's good to hear. Wrecking that balsa would be a real drag. No experience with Venom products but I see Hobby Zone carries the Venom line, so if it's good enough for them then it would be a safe bet to go with. You got a Spitfire from HC? How is that working out?

I ended up buying a PZ Spit airframe. Just got my BL 480Plus motor and 40amp esc from HeadsUpRC. Still need to dive in and install it all.

Alex, Where did you get the Spit from? Didn't see one at Airland Hobbies - too bad.
