Hello folks I am new to electric flying and I have just bought a model of the Easy Cub by Multiplex, it is an A.R.T.F. model made of Elapor Foam, they reccomend using their own Zacki Elapor cyano for assembly, I dont like using cyano and I cannot bear the fumes, eyes streaming, headaches etc. I note a couple of members mention hot glue guns I would appreciate any advice on this.

murphy Haven't had 1st hand experience with Elapor but here's a link to someone using 5 min epoxy on a foam plane they were building, says it works great on foam not so great on plastic. www.wattflyer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36316Hope it helps.

Hey all mending my Apprentice's wing halves together and I think I just found a new friend. Gorilla Glue White. Thank-You all for your postings here. I picked up the CA glue recommended by E-Flite for the Z-Foam and I was unimpressed after the 24 hour full cure time. I ended up pulling/cutting the wing apart, cleaning the crusty CA up and Gorillaing. Glad I was applying somewhat sparingly because it does certainly expand and foam out.
I will see the final result later but right now two thumbs WAY up!

This model is not made of styrofoamâ„¢, and it is not possible to glue the material using white glue, polyurethane or epoxy; these adhesives only produce a superficial bond which simply gives way when stressed. Please use mediumviscosity cyano-acrylate glue exclusively looks like your stuck with ca, or you could try some ultimate rc foam glue they say it works on any foam

OH WOW...
I used that medium visc. stuf last night and was NOT impressed with it's strength. I know there are multi-tudes of this CA in different resins and maybe if this fails I am off to studying CA glues or the ultimate you linked to.
Thanks for the helpful info, I am interested though to see for myself how this gorilla works or not. Seems like a good product if it bonds.....
Thanks a bunch, Wayne

gorilla glue works well on foam like the super cub, but it wont work well on all foams so test it first.

Duck I glued these wing halves about 2 1/2 hours ago; cure time was 30-60 minutes. I picked up the wing now and YANKED I do mean YANKED and they are not coming apart. If I would've pulled anymore the foam would've tore by the leading and aft protector covers that I also glued on. I think it's going to be a go. Your comment is still fresh in my mind but geeez it sure seems steadfast. The gluing is simply meant to keep the two wing halves from separating as the vertical flex is overcome by male/female carbon fiber spars factory set into the halves. I will touch back and keep a look out for any opening after I TEST it. Wayne

gorilla glue works well on foam like the super cub, but it wont work well on all foams so test it first. For foam (such as the cub) I use gorilla glue mixed with PVA, works a treat. As for the original question regarding white gunk stuff for the servos, I put a coat of silicone bathroom sealer over the servo tabs, similar to the stock area. They don't move but can be easily removed with a knife if either fail.

The white Gorilla Glue does work very well, by far my favorite when there's time to let it cure but it does foam up like there's no tomorrow. Won't stick to Saran Wrap (tried it) and I've heard it won't stick to Wax paper either (haven't tried that yet).
