Well fathers day came and went and my daughter sent me a 2200 4s, deep joy ,the fw190 has already christened it, i like that old warbird, it still needs the 3blade though.and yes i see your point about gliders over the "Unique",apart from everything else you are continually looking up with a glider ,unless its a warmliner ,then the eyeballs are all over the sky.anyway hope you are keeping well

very Hot and humid and very windy as well...
hate humidity, if I do anything , it is like taking a shower in my own sweat....I am soaked within a few minutes
now this evening Finally we got some measurable rain of course a storm as well...but the plants and yard needed moisture bad.
maybe this heat will slide away now and winds will calm down i hope

Hello Ed , i am with you on the humidity ,especially when you try to sleep ,its as though the brickwork stores all the heat during the day and chucks it out at night, not nice

Hello ed ,i keep trying to rotate my fleet ,but the glider keeps coming with me , its on its third engine now.the original dynam burnt out , the turnigy 3536 has a broken prop adapter ,good motor one of these ones where the prop adapter screws on to the front of the motor,no prop shaft as such. and now it has a park 480 off my second se5a, so basically the same set up as a parkzone radian. i tried it last night ,this is the optimum set up ,mind you there was no wind but the glide was perfect ,until i gave it the beans to climb for height and the engine bolts came out ,this was my fault ,when i changed motors i forgot to add a drop off c/a to the screws. with the heat i just want a quick flight ,not having to concentrate too much on the landing , i still can`t explain why i like the glider so much, i mean i have put a lot more time into it than i usually would ,although it sat in the shed for 3 years ,everything deserves its time in the sun

Hey, fly what you like... I have not flown so long I think I am forgetting how ...lol wish these heat and humidity would cease, especially the winds but even when winds ease up , it is just to hot in the sun to fly and winds rarely ease up...lol hey a Glider is nice, wish i had an area I could fly one in the unique is just not a good location at all for a glider even tho those Large Buzzards have a blast playing gliders....LOL

i nearly clipped a red kite this morning ,i thought it was higher up than it was ,we where circling in the same space , i avoided taking out one of our protected red kites, the bird was squawking its head off ,then it got its revenge as the engine bolts fell out ,with the 480 hanging off the glider was a lame duck eventually landing in a tree. it was only a little way up ,so got it down with no damage. i cant realy get any decent vid from the glider, the mini cam has so much gello effect ,and of course i don`t have a folding prop ,which would help ,but folding props always get caught on landing ,then you`r a plane down until spares can be obtained . i did turn the cam round to face the tail, afterwards i beefed up the tail, the vid from the tail was scary ,the tail was flexing about all over the place . at the moment i am flying early morning before the heat kicks in or about an hour before sunset, its just too flaming hot to fly most of the day, never thought i would ever say that in England .chris

same here WV is normally cooler than most places
but near 90 and heat index near 100 all around
it's horrible and not normal
issue here is even early morning it is in the mid 80's and dew point near 70 still to humid like a sauna and windy...never saw winds blow so early or so late normally winds do not pick up till noon and stop before sunset
now they even blow early and way into the night and it is a very warm wind not comfortable at all
sometimes i think maybe I was transformed into the Bahama's or some other tropical location and no one told me...lol

The only way you can tell if you are really in the Bahamas is this, have you looked out the window lately, right are the ladies wearing grass skirts with coconuts in strategic places. it feels like we are trapped inside a cooking pot at the moment ,we have not had such a sustained period of heat like this for years ,the grass is dissapearing and the farmers are worried for their grassing for the cows ,there is talk of some of the crops in the field slowing down through lack of rain, although the ground is so hard ,if we did get heavy rainfall ,we would have floods. i dread to think how it feels where you are. anyway i should receive my cam tomorrow so the fun can start again. chris

Looking around i see some nuts
but no Ladies in grass skirts ...lol
well it has been storming and raining now
suppose to cool down for a few days and the humidity is suppose to drop as well ( I sure hope so )
then later next week back to the heat...lol
My real hope is it cools down and the winds are low love to get some flying in sometime
needless to say it does get frsutrating
all it seems I do is mow grass at the unique and nothing else...lol
O well sure my time will come soon enough

Seems all I can do is give weather reports
I must say the past two days have been Beautiful
Clear, less humid and Nice, but with one exception
Winds are horrible. They even blow into the night
not extreme but to high to fly safely in
and as always lately from the East and blowing towards the highway
things like that drive me nuts....use to lay late evenings and that is when I flew, but they never lay much anymore
and always for some odd reason blowing from the East, that is rare around here . makes even when i try hard to land as it blows me towards the highway as that is the direction I have to turn to line up...SO
no flying here, as always ...lol

Im sorry you are having a hard time of it with the heat and the strange winds and no chance to fly ,hopefully things will change soon. i had to do a search and rescue operation this morning, a flyer who comes down the field occasionally ,came down with a plane he had built from plans, an aerobatic job ,small wingspan hard to see, anyway i wasn`t at the field at the time, but i had seen the plane fly a couple of days ago, very aerobatic but very twitchy. anyway the flyer lost orientation of it and it landed 50ft up a tree. i took all my canes and zip ties and gaffer tape down the field and gave it a try, but with the tree in full summer growth it was difficult to get near enough, i managed to get about 15ft from the plane, but then there was nothing to steady the canes against. so a plane with new gear ,servos and what not stays up the tree. i ended up selling my mx2 airframe to him for £10 ,to try and keep him in the game. i know what it feels like to loose one up a tree, in the tree next to it there is a £600 power kite, been up there a couple of years ,things just happen i guess. chris

I know about trees as well when i first started flying at the unique seemed that was a constant mishap spent more time figuring out ways to get my planes out of tree's rather than flying odd how that worked ..always flew within the confounds pf the treeline that borders the field... that was difficult and why i ended up in tree's so much than just one day it was like, why not fly over the tree's ? needless to say, have never looked back and have never had tree issues after that...lol now issue is winds...

Well what to say ,after helping my fellow flyer unsuccessfully yesterday" ,i thought i would check the offending tree ", it appears he must have gone back ,the plane is down ,ah that`s good i thought . time to fly the hurricane ,well she took off lively enough ,but was dragging the tail badly it was obvious that either the batty had moved or the weights had come out , the hurricane has an sort of grid underneath the motor as an air hole ,the space inside is big enough to slot a couple of AA batts for balance, i think this grate came undone and bombed the field, well there was no way of holding her ,all i could do was try to steer her to the rough at the side of the field,, i cut the power and tried to glide her in ,but it went on its back ,and hit the ruddy tree i spent all yesterday morning underneath.from the wing forward the whole section is missing, i searched for ages ,i mean the front had been repaired before ,so it would have been a question of just sticking it back on. but it has totally disappeared including the 2200 4s my daughter got me for fathers day ,maddeningly because it jumped of the connection the batt is probably alright ,just hiding in dense tundra ,i did take some vid with the new cam ,works well as it goes not bad for £12 , anyway there is no way i can seriously put the footage up because of the "dissapointed nature of the pilots comments" this is what comes of flying the glider all weekend and getting chilled out flights i was forgetting the downside .chris
