The weather has gone downhill again here as well, wet and windy . has your quad arrived yet ,i am interested in what you make of the fpv experience .on another note last year , or thinking about it perhaps the year before that ,when i was regularly earning ,i was more than happy to keep "expanding the fleet", in the last year i haven't bought any plane related stuff at all, just enjoying what i already have makes you think a bit, its like when you have the cash you can go out and buy what you want not necessarily what you need. if i had a choice now i probably would not bother with retracts, just belly land with the fw190 and hurricane,as i fly off grass ,even when cycling properly the retracts are not as tough as fixed uc ,and i already have experience of the gremlins attacking the uc when switched to go up ,and the d**n things jamming and blacking out the receiver, that was on the 190 ,luckily it is a very floaty old thing and ended up over the tree line and buried itself in a nettle patch on the golf course, i never did find the batty box cover chris.

have not got my quad kit yet
somewhere around town, doubt it gets delivered in the snow ...lol
Yeah I have not spent much either until I decided to try to get into quads and FPV
may have to look into selling a few planes maybe ...lol

Its a good job i don`t live near, i have a full hangar but i would still relieve you of some planes , i have the perfect storm situation at the moment, the shed is cleared out containing all my repairable Airframes and bikes, shed needs a new roof, and my son and daughter are coming home for Easter. i am hoping the shed will be repaired in time,so i can fill it back up again, still have to find somewhere to stick three planes, still its nice to be in that position ,Batterys are more of a concern at the moment they dont last forever, they are hanging on by their finger tips. hope you get the quad soon .chris

Hey Cris crazy whether , now it is raining Yeah Finally got that Quad Beta Kit in and a couple other quads 3 different sizes a Beta 65s a Beta 85 and I got a KingKong Tiny 7X and it's pink lol it came with several colored bodies and props and batteries and a case with a built in charger the Beta 85 just came by itself and a battery ( got two extra ) and that 65s is the entire Kit, T8SG Jumper transmitter-goggles-6 batteries-charger/adapter and a nice hard case have been tinkering with the small one flying in the house some the radio is odd and hard to understand and set up but learning some can already hover and fly in circles, not room to room or FPV yet here are some pictures Also have a set of better goggles coming with a DVR the new Quanum Diversity/DVR Goggles hobbyking.com/en_us/quanum-cyclops-diversity-fpv-goggle.htmlgonna do it, do it all the way...plus who knows may be able to set up one of my planes will need a good set of Goggles to do that . The quads look slightly bigger than i thought they would be, perhaps because they have barriers round the props, the hubsan dose"nt have them, but hey what a fleet of micro fun ,you don`t do things by half ,you might be fpv drone racer in the making ,have fun my friend.chris

Hey Chris ,
lol....yeah , it's all or nothing for sure
I wanted to start inside and I already know it will end up outside
why I moved up in sizes....already could use more space even with the little one .
next is moving into FPV a step at a time....those tiny goggles are clear but hard for me to see with...the newer Quanum has an adjustable lens that should help plus I have that smaller set for any perspective family or neighbors who want to look through them . and the new Quanum's will have DVR so i can record all my messes/crashes...lol

Hello Ed ,just one thing to watch out for when you try the goggles, if you are outside its best to sit down especially if you try aerobatics , if you fly a plane and do a loop or roll that`s fine ,because you are looking at the plane from a distance, but with fpv its your eyeballs that do the loops and rolls . a fella i used to fly with had a stryker flying wing with fpv ,he used to pass the goggles to me ,then power up and do insane loops and rolls at about 80mph ,then he would burst out laughing because i would be on the floor. its something to do with balance its best to sit down, also i suppose if you are piloting the plane and wearing goggles ,you of course know what the plane is about to do. the friend i was talking about has given up flying because some toerag broke into his shed and stole all his gear ,like most shed raiders would no what to do with it, i try not to advertise what i have,i only store damaged repairable airframes in the shed, if they want to steal a mx2 with no motor or servos ,or receiver as long as they realize that their bargain shed lifting ,will cost say £200 to put into flying condition with a transmitter of course, well i don`t think most scallywags have the brain power for all that . chris

Hello Ed ,i have just had the flying session from hell,as i was walking to the field a van driver stopped me and asked if he could have a go with the planes. i had the supercub with me and my arcus biplane. i thought fair enough someone wants to learn,i thought i would give him a chance with the supercub, but this fella was so pushy,we only just got on the field and he was saying this is alright fly here,no i said its too near the trees, so we walk further up and i put the planes down to face into the wind. i was just getting a battery out for the super, when i noticed he was picking up the arcus and turning it 180 , i asked him what he was doing and he said ,you had the plane round the wrong way you want to take off with the wind. i said enthusiasm is good but the planes are not toys ,safety is always priority. anyway i had been working on the super last night ,and was after a quite test flight. i told the "recruit" that i would get the plane in the air first and check it out then pass the controller to him fair enough. as i threw the super i could tell the motor was not performing it went about 3ft then went in, i put the transmitter down on my bag for a minute and was inspecting the motor and gearbox ,when all of a sudden the prop started spinning about half an inch from my face, the idiot had only picked up the transmitter and wacked the throttle up. yeah mate i shall spend my money on a hobby that needs my full concentration ,i shall practice it for years ,always looking out for walkers trying my best to do things in a safe way then i shall hand my reputation and my equipment over to you ,a complete wazzock who would`nt realize the danger of his actions. sorry for my rant ,but i wont be offering flying lessons to anyone, unless they have come to the field with their own plane and just needing a bit of confidence and advice

wow.....always people who are clueless
that was part of my issue with organizations like the AMA
they talk teaching and have things, but most are member only and general public have no idea about the hobby it's fun and it's danger
and then you have some in the hobby who have great experience but wear it like armor...and if you do anything from what they deem is right, they go off...lol
I'm like you ( of course i fly in a private place ) but I do not want someone just grabbing up stuff that could potentially harm them and me .
Nothing wrong with putting the facts and truth out there rants are fine, sometimes we have to air it out...lol

Hello ED ,the weather over here is damp and the field is pretty waterlogged ,if i find a good bit of ground not flooded, the undercarriage picks up so much mud that the planes can`t take off ,needs a few days of sun to dry out. of course it would be perfect for the dhc2 on the floats or the supercub with floats, but alas the beaver is down after a tip stall ,breaking the float mounts, where they join the fuse, the struts are aluminium ,but the mountings on the end of them are plastic ,i repaired one of them with a meccano joint ,i will have to attack the rest of them. the supercub has stripped the gearbox cog , i don`t have a spare at the moment ,so no float fun , anyway i have lost a bit of confidence after the last session. how are you fairing at the moment ,any fun with the fpv .Chris

well I have been flying LOS around inside some
got the Quanum goggles in....they are much clearer to see and the lens is adjustable, I can see through it very clear
have not flown FPV yet, still trying to get the hang of this little quad...really sensitive to the sticks
if I keep at it, I hope i can get good enough to try FPV soon and not bounce off everything in the house...lol
finally starting to clear up here, calling for some showers this coming week, but starting to bloom, seems spring is happening even in the middle of cool weather.....
Going to try and clean the field up some next week if weather permits
