I have just managed to repair the float mounts on my dhc2 , it could do with a new cowling ,but i dont think they are available, waiting on the wind and rain to go away, the field is still waterlogged at the moment . still got to repair my arcus biplane, i tried it the other day ,but the wheels were dragging on the wet grass then it hit a divit and took half the lower wing off, just part of the fun of running a big bipe the se5a and the tiger moth wont see the field for a while, i like my biplanes. chris

Hey Chris
Yeah I really enjoy my SE5a....it flies so easy and smooth
most of the flight I can fly it with one thumb ( throttle / Rudder )
only issue I have is when I need to land I have to turn to the right it hates turning right...lol
seriously I have to use ailerons with rudder to make it turn that way
I have adjusted it several times to no avail But flies great just the same
cold and rain and wind here again to
wish it would dry up

I am waiting for the wind to drop so i can try the beaver again ,she is a nice old bird actually ,i have a few projects on the go at the moment . i have an st models mx2 from a few years ago ,good airframe just needs motor and servos, then a sonic 185 glider just needs a receiver and a walrus glider. of course the main problem with the folding prop gliders ,is just that belly landing the props eventually get snapped ,and not always the easiest thing to get hold of.when things are going right ,nice sunny day with a little thermal activity ,the gliders are relaxing and long run time ,good for a bit of de-stress and fun catching them as well ,although i have caught one with my teeth before now

prayer for calm skies and dryer conditions
sad is they are calling for snow this weekend...crazy
been buzzing around in the house a tad....
still trying to get my thumbs/fingers use to this Tx
after flying planes , it is a slight learning curve with stick input
batteries on this thing only lasts 2 minutes...hardly get started and batteries run to low
but slowly getting the hang of it

Hello Ed ,just thinking about your se5a not turning right unless forced, is it possible there is a hairline crack in the motor mount, with the power on perhaps the motor could be dragging the airframe to the left ,just a thought. as you say the run time on the mini quads is annoying ,and they run very hot as well ,so you cant always put a battery straight in and carry on, after buying my t111 quad ,i had the same problem that is why i was looking at the bigger outdoor ones with 15 mins run time, but i think that when you get used to it you will find that you can get a lot further on that 2 mns . just looking at my airframes as mentioned ,i have lots of ideas ,perhaps i may even have enough gear to get one of them completed. i have my st acrobat and acrowot and wot4 ,so i am fairly full on the acrobatics side, although the mx2 was very colorful in the air ,easy to see and very stable, but i have itch for a glider , i just dont have an esc for both and no funds to rectify this , i shall have to drag myself back to the grindstone again

will take a look at the SE5 mount...it has never had a crash...it has nosed over a couple times at the end of the roll out...I installed a carbon rod down through the Vertical stab so it will land on it instead of the rudder on those occasional flip overs
that seem to help that issue, but have not figured out that love the left turn , hate the right, scenario
have manually adjusted the rudder-linkage and all that but no avail...still turns easier left and if I just use the rudder to turn right, it takes Forever to make that turn...and in my small area that does not work well...lol
yeah squeezing out a little more time on the quad batteries, but not much, it will fall out of the sky
hopefully I can get good enough to be able to fly outside when the weather clears that's my goal anyway , I have an older quad and a quad kit...may look into getting them in the air at some point...

Well today i had one of those days we flyers dream about, brilliant sunlight low wind all day long, so the yak had three batts through it plus the se5a ,the tiger moth ,cessna 188 and the wot4, the wot4 was playing up a bit ,it has an eflight power 15 on the front of it after the original motor had a snapped prop shaft, the motors are 3536 size but with a prop shaft made of spaghetti ,when they are new the motors are very powerful just dont bend the shaft. i have five of these all with snapped shafts. anyway the efite lump is usualy very good allowing the wotty to go vertical, only today it just would not make the numbers and was making a hell of a racket ,i think the prop adapter was slipping on the shaft , funny how things can be perfect one day then the next time you fly them the gremlins have struck again, could be my batterys starting to go as well, i have had a good run of it not bought any for at least a year. the cessna 188 is a brilliant plane for a blue sky day ,i have the orange one ,it rely pops out in the sun and it climbs like a rocket but not power hungry at all, good for gliding about with the red kites ,trying to find thermal lift, still not taken any video just relaxing and enjoying the flying , i think i nearly clipped one of the red kites when i was following it , i didnt mean to the cessna turned quicker than he did , the bird did a sort of wing over squawking its head off weather supposed to be changing again for the weekend oh well nice to have a break enough to fly anyway ,and i also had try with the beaver ,i placed it in a big bit of run off water and pulled the trigger wahay i was not prepared for the result ,it started alright at first but when i pored on the coals the prop dug in and soaked me with water from head to foot, the engine mount had loosened .anyway all the best chris

Hello Ed ,how are you getting on with the quad , are you using the fpv yet . i found with my little one ,its best outside with more room , inside i find it difficult to keep focused on the screen, keep looking over the top of it,especially when the picture breaks up, plus there are so many ornaments in the living room making safe navigation difficult, i mean i bought all of them for the wife over the years ,and took out accidental damage cover for them , but i dont think quadcopter misguidance would be covered

Hey Chris
I been doing great inside so far so good with the little quad
got out the larger 85 mm one and buzzed about it is really fast as well and heavier
have to really be careful inside with it
No , no FPV yet....going to try it later to see how it goes some
Way to windy to try outside, was hoping winds would calm down so i could
calling for snow again...and temps dropping tonight
crazy spring weather, but normal round here ....lol
hope it warms up and clears up and stop the snow/rain and cold

Hello Ed , crazy weather , anyway i worked out why my fw109 and hurricane wont take off . the original 3 blade props had short life on the grass ,what with the retracts playing up from time to time ,i put two blades on instead of course with different spinners ,this was fine at home ,but down at the field i couldnt get enough speed to take off. it seems the dynam spinners have two prongs which stick out and engage with the cogged weight at the front of the motor ,this stops the shaft spinning round while you tighten the prop nut , just seemed like the prop was tight with the two blade but obviously there was a bit of play at the end of the thread on the shaft, do i feel daft or what

We had another break in the weather today , so cubby and the hurricane , i still cant get the hurricane off the ground ,tightened up the prop adapter , fully charged 4s batty , nice taxi across the field ,but no lift off. i have ordered new dynam 3 blade props and spinners for my fw190 as well as the hurricane, it might be the damp muddy grass not allowing enough speed on run up to rotate off the deck ,still i shall wait until the props arrive before trying again, no point damaging good airframes.how are things going on the fpv front, it must be good for the reflexes .hopefully i might get a chance to retry my beaver , i am a little scared of this plane its a nice looker ,but it has stalled out on me twice already, by the time i learn to fly the thing properly there wont be anything left of it
