I agree, here they have lumped us all in one loaf
everything unmanned is a drone .
goes to the military use that was plastered on every news cast for years
now the media uses the same terminology for our Model aircraft
worse so has the government .
If i ever get around to it, it to will probably be a crime to own...lol

wow, hate to hear Cub took a tumble
but glad to hear you got some time in
well it has been bad in some areas but not to bad here
suppose to get some rain-freezing rain and snow next couple days but I do not think anything serious
weather has been pretty good lately, hope it gets better
just been piddling about trying to gain a little info on some small quads and FPV ....consider perhaps giving it a try
still at the just looking stage at the moment
did ride over to the flying field today it needs a lot of TLC
I also saw a Huge Hornets nest in the middle of the field would be in the tall grass in the summer, one would never see it seems intact...do not know if bees are just hibernating or dead ...lol
may leave it or destroy it, not sure yet to cold to hang around much....
But appears I will have some work to do, to get the runway carpet and area cleaned up . Will be a slow process, but will get me out and about more
Ed.

Hello Ed ,glad to hear you made it to the "Unique" .now a good start on the fpv sort of thing is the xkx300 , the rc saylors did a review of it , 15mns run time and crystal clear fpv ,with the supplied monitor about £120. the weather seems to be improving over here ,supposedly getting nice for the weekend,if my aches and pains will give it a rest, i might have a chance of a flight.

hello Ed, the fpv stuff is confusing ,if you keep it simple say $100 you end up with short range on the fpv ,and low run time . if you go up to $150,that opens up things quite a bit ,although a lot of manufacturers have gone the wifi route so you have to use your smart phone.i prefer to have the 2.4 version with supplied monitor, with option for goggles if needed. it must be easy to get disorientated as you have no point of focus like the wing or nose of the plane, most quads give you nothing to focus on.what about a cheap hobbyking system ,light weight with integrated, cam and transmitter device, similar to the one Parkzone used for the sport cub .the yak 12 is the plane for this ,might even try it myself at least it would be on a platform that you are familiar with, after all the yak is slow enough for you to get the feel for the sensation, you might not like it or once you have been round the field a few times the novelty might wear off, also with a seperate cam trans unit you could put it on any of your planes, only having speed of plane and possible range of fpv equipment to consider ,anyway all the best chris

hey Chris
yeah, I thought of that as well....figure if I can get use to FPV with one of these small quads using it in one of my planes that I can almost fly blindfolded would be great
yeah the Yak would be a perfect platform...flies very well and slow and is really stable
I know it can bare some weight because one of mine has a Nav Light system on it and a fairly large control board inside and I have mounted key cams on it ad it still does very good.
and I have a beat up one that flies well...and one still in the box.....
setting in the cockpit per say would seem so much better than looking up round and round...lol

So what was the price like on your fpv set up,and have you tried it out yet ,is it parkflyer or indoor . sorry being a twit again ,i have just seen the link ,that looks a neat set up those little woops have quite a following ,i found with my all in one mini quad with monitor fpv, that the batteries run incredibly hot , i think the cam/trans set up takes a bit out of the batteries ,but a whole ton of fun . the one you have looks a decent set up with everything packed neatly away for carrying ,have fun my friend

It was expensive, but I ordered the Jumper T8SG multiple Protocol transmitter with it
it is suppose cover a wide range of manufacturers like DSM/DSMX-Frsky-Futaba-Hubsan-Flysky-Walkera-Syma etc etc
so instead of trying to ensure I get one system ( I normally use Spektrum DSM/DSMX ) in my planes
appears most of these quads have a variety and instead of buying different Rx's all the time I can just change a switch in the Tx and fly them all....
altogether it was $299.....Tx-quad-goggles-6 batts-charger-case etc
I figure if i pieced it all out it would be near the same price or maybe even a tad higher .
I have not gotten it yet...probably will take a few weeks to get here
they say it can fly indoors, and out in calm or slight winds.

Hey Chris,
yeah coming on the slow boat from China...lol
good to hear you got some flying in
still nothing here yet
now they are calling for some fairly good snow But we will see the next couple days
we have not had that much snow this year, had some really cold temps more rain then snow .
yeah, funds are hard to come by and harder to build up enough to get what one needs been saving a little to get what i ordered...pondered on it for awhile
I will soon see if it worth the money soon enough...lol

Just a question ,when you order direct from China do you pay customs charges when it arrives,or is that in the price. i don`t like the sound of more snow, generally if you get some ,we are not far behind and i work outside brrr

All in the price...no shipping or custom charges added most times
well we got about 6 inches or more of snow
some areas were a lot more
power outages-tree limbs coming down and all that stuff around here in places
it is about 4:30 in the evening here and sun is trying to shine some
beautiful out there with snow on the tree's and limbs hanging down they are calling for snow the rest of the week, not much just an inch or two everyday.....But it's March
around here we can have a few feet of snow one day and sunshine and warm Temps the next and all the snow melted away .

Hello Ed ,this global warming malarkey seems to be working all sorts of strange at the moment,we are forecast snow for the weekend ,but when we get it we don`t get the heat in the sun to burn it away very quickly.anyway the work thing did`nt last very long,i was feeling great so i came off income support and went back to work full time ,on light duties in the yard,i worked a week and a half, then on the Wednesday i started to feel rough ,then collapsed and ended up in hospital for the day again, the firm won`t let me back in the yard again,so know its back to income support i guess ,aint life great. i was looking in my rc magazine yesterday and saw the umx aero commander, bit pricey but a good performer by all accounts, there was a fella called bob hoover, who used to do an aerobatic display with the real one, shutting both motors off and still doin`g loops and rolls ,i suppose just demonstrating the safety and integrity of the airframe www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7R7jZmliGc
