Hi All,
I have the first original supercub (no floats) comes with the 10x8 (yes the 10x8 not 9x6!!) I have added a Turnigy 30amp ESC and Lemon RX and am using 3 cell 45C Lipos. This is a test bed for my Bigaole FC before it goes into my Radian XL.
I have kept the standard motor for the moment. I have just ordered a variety of prop sizes to test with my WATT meter.
My question is what / how much will the stock 480 brushed motor handle, is this measured in watts or amps? i would like to put the best prop on for power without burning out the motor.
Cheers fellas

The 10x8 is recommended for float use, but pulls a lot of amps (~18-19A) and will shorten motor life if used at full throttle a lot. Watts and amps are related so you can use either as a determination of power. Here's some old numbers: HZ Supercub 10x8 Prop Stock 7-cell NiMh 50% throttle = 4.37A and 39.9W 100% throttle = 10.07A and 83.4W PZ 8-cell NiMh 50% throttle = 6.05A and 59.7W 100% throttle = 10.94A and 95.1W 3s Lipo (1500mAh, Zippy 20-30C) 50% throttle = 6.82A and 83.2W 100% throttle = 18.37A and 212.7W You can see why the Lipo at WOT is like hyperdrive. The weak link used to be the old ESC, thought to max out ~12-13A You've replaced that so now the weak link is the motor. You are doing your own experiment.
