Much like the modern driver who learns in a car with ABS. What then happens in a situation where the fuse blows and the car skids? Simple, they crash. Me? I provide my own ABS with cadence braking because I learnt how to do it properly first.
That's my view, but everyone should do whatever they enjoy.
Strange you mention cars, as i worked in the Auto industry most of my life.
I started out working with a company that sold AMC's ( American motor Company )they also sold the Willies Jeep.
We had the Gremlin, Pacer, Cherokee, Wagoneers ,AMX's, Javelin, Honcho's....that sort of thing
Hardly anything had a automatic transmission, now it's standard. Same as the ABS brakes you mention
And FYI, you can lose a fuse and the ABS and you would hardly notice it except for the warning light on the dash.
Don't be mislead by the ABS thing....they also said to not pump them, and yet everyone was taught to easily pump their brakes...that is how an ABS works basically.
You could lose the ABS as it were and still never know it unless you slammed the brakes on a slick road and even with ABS it would still skid.
I like trying to drive about anything. I have drove many vehicles in my life, some good some bad, some fast some slow, some small, some large....I know of few things i have not driven. But I say that to say this....with every few years they changed something, to make it easier, more convenient, things like adding A/C something for so long they did not have, the ABS you mentioned, auto transmissions, radio's to 8 track to cassette and now CD's and even MP3 and DVD units....I could go on an on...but the gest of that is with every advancement it helped someone and improved someone's life.Like someone teaching you about braking.
I have multiple planes, again way to many, some are simply hard to fly and very stressful, I actually jumped back into this hobby just a year ago..and i jumped in way to fast and way to far, way to quickly .
The moment just was an addiction. Things I deemed would be easy i have found hard, some I figured were hard have become easy.
I am just experimenting with systems and how things handle and what is best for me. Again i can fly some pretty hard planes, that are always on the edge...but I simply
do not like that feeling or that constant strain . I fly them under duress and yet do well....I take a simple easier plane like the Champ or Cub and crash them or they land in a tree....go figure .
I been flying a X-2 Heli...it is very fast and it handles very well, and can fly in some very strong winds...I try and fly certain planes in far less wind and far less speed and have issue's at times and those pucker moments stress me out....
To each their own..and I enjoy trying different things, My SC flies great as is, but I am going to try that SAFE/AS3X/ESC unit, just to see what it does in it.
The Delta Ray works very well, in fact to well. And that to well, again got me in trouble and the fact every HH plane I ever owned loves tree's .The DR is no different, today it decided to park itself in one. Strange HH had to install a tree magnet in their planes? ( I know it's in there somewhere ) Everyone I ever owned made by them, lands in tree's.
A little banged up and some dings and dents, still works great....it was late after I got it down, so the insight about it, is still to be learned as i never got to switch it out of Beginners mode before it decided to take a tree rest. One thing I learned, in Beginners mode it needs allot more of an area to turn .
And the DR with small brushed motors is very very fast .
One just has to decide what they will do. I have read and spoke to people whose first planes were 3D models. They learned by using it's power to hover and than when they oriented themselves they would fly around and when they got in trouble they went back to a hover until they got their hands and mind back on track .
Some use Simulators and swear by them, some 3 ch planes, some swear it has to be 4 ch and so on and so forth.
Growing up there was nothing I could not work on, now it's a challenge just to find the hood latch on most cars. It takes equipment to scan and run codes and unless you have that equipment and knowledge you have no clue what is happening to the car. I use to test drive them and listen, and I could tell you exactly what the problem was,now I could drive all day and not know anything. that's how things have changed.
Just like this hobby, I have read and read about Lipo's and electronics and asked relentless questions about them, etc etc etc....and i have trouble maintaining the information I read or am told, something years ago, I would never forget, I can not even remember 2 minutes later after I am told today.
So you see, one plane I can have a blast and throw it around the sky and care less...another gives me the Heebie Jeebies and it is usually a plane others deem to be simple.
That Heli I mentioned most would have no clue how to handle it, even tho it is a coaxial, it does not handle nor fly like one...and may get all out of sorts when i say I put a Champ or SC or DR in a tree .....and yet fly that fast Heli, like there was no tomorrow...Why ? I have no clue either....
So anything I can do to ease my mind, reduce my stress, help me to relax and simply Enjoy....that is what i am going to do.
And FLY..I can be a C- one day and an F the next....And there have been some A+ days, but they are few and far between....lol
