Up to a high of 75 degrees today and wind is almost nothing, but here I sit waiting on the AT&T guy to install a receiver for my Uverse on our tv. I can't leave, as I have to wait on the guy and no telling exactly when he will make his appearance and how long he will take. Oh, well, perhaps tomorrow may be as good, as the temp then is up to 78 degrees, but by Thursday, winter hits with a blast and temps drop to 45 degrees. I have been playing with an ongoing build for my Bixler v1.1 RTF and ARF planes, so it seems the Super Cub has not had the attention I wanted to give it lately. Maybe I'll remove the firewall on my extra SC fuselage and do some mod stuff I wanted to do to it. Sort of ruins the day in just waiting on the service guy though. Wimper, whine, wimper.... :-)

Might wanna check that weather again, they've got us down in the upper 20's and lower 30's Thursday night and Friday over in the Tyler area.
I know what you mean about not being able to get out. I'm just back from the rig in South TX and stuck doing the paperwork at home.

Bad part here is when the weather warms up and the Sun shines the winds Howl...when it is cloudy and rain and or snow the winds are calm.....I for one was sick of the wind all year long and hoped this late in the year they would have subsided allot....but that is Not the case at all....and now by the end of the week they are calling for heavy rains and to ice and snow. But I bet when the rain comes and the snow and ice the winds are calm....that has been the scenario this entire year.
I am looking at making some ski's maybe when the snow is covering everything I can fly...seems that will be when the winds won't be blowing.Wonder if I can cover my planes with a rain coat on rainy days ? hummmm.......

buy a can of never wet by rustolum and spray the pane that will keep it dry As I predicted , Today heavy rains and calm as can be......now they are calling for an Ice Storm ? Maybe some wing de-icer and a few flights ? Anyone ? Do not think that Two part Never Wet Rustoleum product would be good to the foam. Product has bad reviews or people who do not know how to use it ? Suitable for use on metal, wood, aluminum, galvanized metal, PVC, concrete, masonry, asphalt, vinyl siding, fiberglass, canvas, most plastics and more Not intended to be applied to electronic devices or clothing Sprays clear and dries to a flat, frosted haze, may cause items to change color or sheen and is more noticeable on dark colored objects, test in an inconspicuous area first May leave a slightly chalky feel to treated objects.

Well, I thought i'd get some stuff done on my spare SC, but several things put the kibosh on doing much, other than slapping on a bit of orange paint. At least I did get some of that done. I have to pick up a new vertical stabilizer as the old one had some bends in it from my last crash. I could put a support piece over the weak areas, but I'll go with a new one, instead. There were some other things happening in my life this weekend that really put the brakes on doing much, but at least this morning I did get a bit of paint slapped on and a few mods to the battery box done. Saddle back mod was done and I'll be changing out the screws to the firewall before it is slapped back on with glue. This plane was just constructed from extra parts, so it may take a while to get it up in the air. It will be basically stock though and used for fun and easy flying. I put on some wheels and landing gear, but have to modify the struts before that is finished out. At least it keeps me busy as the weather is not good for flying these days. Ice is melting here, but it has not been weather to get out in for the past two days. The underside is white, but I may add some black stripes later.

Sorry, but I am in a funk mood today and have just lost focus for a bit, as we had to have our Bichon, Mr. Murphy, put to sleep last night. It was a really horrible death from a disease and I am trying to adjust to my best pal, buddy, friend and confidant not being right at my feet. When I looked over his registration papers yesterday, I noticed that it was his birthday today. It was like losing a child for me and there was much more to the story, but I don't want to go into it at the moment. It has not been a good week and the slick ice and resulting travel out in the middle of the night to the emergency animal care clinic was harrowing. He had to have blood transfusions and finally threw a blood clot and was having trouble breathing. We had to put him to sleep and that is something I have trouble in dealing with. My dogs have always lived to be about 16 before they died, so this was an unexpected shock and a heart break for me, as he was under my feet all day and every day. He would not move an inch without me being there with him on a daily basis. Everything in the house reminds me of him, so needless to say, depression is what I am trying to get over at the moment. My arthritis does not help with all the wetness and cold at the moment, but each day will get better. There was so much that happened when Murph got bad, so I am trying to not focus on it at the moment, but instead, be happy that God shared him with me and me with him for the brief seven years time I did have with him. I tried to piddle a bit with doing some soldering on my orange SC yesterday, but my mind was just not into it. Maybe before long I'll get more done, but I have to take it a bit at a time, since Murph isn't here to lay next to my feet and provide me support. :-(

Coupe: I have "known" Murph only for a few months, courtesy of your posts on here. It was clear that he was an engaging little fella in his own right, but also a great companion for you. My wife and I enjoyed all your crazy pictures of him. I am sure everyone on here will sympathise with your sad loss, especially those of us who also have experienced the pain of losing a beloved pet. My thoughts went straight to words I learned many years ago - "Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware / Of giving your heart to a dog to tear." They are from a very old poem by a great British author and poet, Rudyard Kipling. I commend it to you and all other dog lovers. You can read it here: www.kipling.org.uk/poems_dog.htm

You can click on any poster's name (handle or nomer) that is up in the left, above their avatar. Their profile will likely say where they are from, if they choose to put the information in there upon joining. I am from the state of Texas, in the USA, myself. My umbilical cord at birth would not extend into the other neighboring smaller states or foreign countries. :-) I did get a thing or two done on my orange plane today. Lots to do, but I did fill some foam depressions and cuts with some Hobbylite and will have to do some touch up when finished. The weather is now in the 40's outside, but lots of ice still present and not all that cheery to go out and fly in. Mud in the fields is not warm when you go and plod through it. :-)
