Hi! Just to say hello from a snowy West Sussex in the south of the UK.
A brief intro about me and my flying. As a kid I made and flew countless free-flight models (mostly rubber-powered) then learnt to fly RC aged 30 in 1990. Life sort of got in the way around 2000 - no excuse but I'm sure I'm not the only one - but planes are in my DNA so resurrected one of my models a year ago. Despite having previously flown aerobatics etc it was obvious I was very rusty, proved by a very dodgy 'arrival' with terra firma, breaking the prop and nose of my Precedent Electra-fly.
Confidence shattered, the months passsed until I decided a few weeks ago the sensible thing would be to start at the beginning and so I bought a Super Cub Li-Po from Wonderland Models - great price and a large box arrived arrived just 2 days later. Wow! Battery technology has certainly come on leaps and bounds, the Li-Po pack is so small and light! In fact, the whole plane is very light.
Although I have only had four flights so far (only had one calm day since the SC arrived) my confidence has returned. This is a truly great plane and I have definitely made the right choice. About halfway through the second flight I was doing lovely slow (my pet hate is scale models flown at non-scale speeds!) figure of eights. All four landings were great too. I didn't turn on the ACT btw.
So that's where I'm at so far. Have just discovered the club when Googling. Amazed the model has such a strong following. Some great planes on here and love some of the mods. First on my list will be the strut attachments to the fuz - having to screw them on every session is a pain. Velcro seems the way to go.
Anyway, next stage is to gradually move the clevises in on the horns one hole at a time. Oh, and I've sent off for a keyfob camera from eBay.
