I think my stock Rx is bad. What's the easiest and cheapest way to get a new one in there?

Are you in the UK? Best is Zimports. Hobbyking orange RX and a 20a brushed esc is another option.

Btw - why not use the esc with ubec all in one? Just in case one breaks and not the other?

Here's where you get into a problem. Most BRUSHED ESC are designed for NiMh. That means the LVC is for NiMh and too low for lipo. The BEC is also designed for lower powered systems so is pretty low rated. That's fine as long as you stay with 2 servos. When you move to a full mod with 4 servos it's too much for the BEC. Having Spektrum and too small a BEC are a known cause of 'Brown Out' and the dreaded "HUH? I upgraded everything and lost total power on my first flight!!" And people claim Spektrum fixes everything. Sorry, ain't so. Google [Spektrum + Brown Out] for a fun evening.
About the ONLY brushed ESC out there with a lipo friendly LVC is the Turnigy. Hard to find outside Hobby King. Absolutely DO NOT buy anything GWS, their ESC are garbage. Electrifly ain't so hot. In fact, the vast majority of brushed ESC aren't worth having if you want to use lipo unless you are VERY careful not to fly your battery voltage too low. But, that's good lipo practice anyway.
In addition, once you are done with it, you'll never use it again most likely. So, it's kind of a bit of arm twisting to get out of the proprietary HZ racket, dump ALL the electrics, and start over again. But, it ain't a simple 'drop in'. You got to do some research and some thinking about where you are going with this. It's been done countless times and it's documented in the power and battery threads. This seems to be a simple question but it doesn't have a simple answer.
So, to actually answer your question - buy another stock unit and take your chances. Most of the time they are OK. I wonder what the actual failure rate is vs ones destroyed by newbie caused failure.
Super Cub > A major cause of upgrading.

Good find. Looks OK on 'paper'. So, with this and similar components to those posted above you could get a new electronics system. Do some searching in the threads. HeadsUPRC is great place for supplies (but NOT brushed ESC - I even wrote him about that item). www.headsuprc.com/servlet/StoreFrontHe'll have a number of suggestions for the Super Cub. I strongly recommend you read most of his [NEW TO ELECTRIC RC?] part way down the index page. Or, just buy the stock part.

Jeff at HURC is one of the best in the industry. I've used him numerous times as have my buddies. If he has what you need I'd recommend him.

Btw - why not use the esc with ubec all in one? Just in case one breaks and not the other? This never got answered..... The ESC has a BEC on board (most park flyer type do, some do not but that should be specified sometimes with the term 'OPTO'). A UBEC is just a separate BEC. 2 BEC used at the same time unless they are EXACTLY matched will 'fight'. Use one or the other but not both at the same time. Too bad it works that way. A redundant system would be nice.

Has Fly released a bit of personal information that has been withheld for as long as I can recall on here? ;D

Oops. Now I need to scurry under something and hide!
Or do you mean about the UBEC?

Oops. Now I need to scurry under something and hide! Or do you mean about the UBEC? nope I meant your name, or favourite cartoon cat. Your technical information is, as always, spot on.
