This is really weird. Out of the blue, I turned off my DX6i but the display stays on! In the off position, the TX no longer sends signals to the plane. However, all menu setup functions still work, including the timer! Weird huh? If I remove a battery for a second, the display goes blank (as it should). But, this is only a temporary fix because if I turn the TX off again, the display and menu functions stay on again. Nothing unusual happened to cause this. Anything like this happen to you?

Never seen it but sounds like a short in the buddy plug. When the buddy port is plugging in it turns on the TX. I think there have been recalls on problems with the port. This deserves a call to Horizon customer service. Not normal, not good.

Certainly sounds like the buddy port is enabling the radio as Fly says. You don't have anything plugged into it?

Same problem here!! Do you have any sollution already?? Assuming that there is nothing plugged into the buddy port, I think Fly supplied the answer in his post, I quote: "This deserves a call to Horizon customer service"

Well, it's been about two weeks since my DX6i started acting up.
I know I should call HH customer service, but I just haven't gotten around to it. Besides, I bought this TX 6 months ago second hand. Don't know how old it is, but I know it wasn't on that recall list.
Funny thing. Most of the time, the unit turns off normally. Once in a while, I have to remove the battery for a moment. Other than this, the TX is working just fine. No glitches or anything. Hate to send it in for repair if this is the only thing that's wrong with it.
I'll update this post if there are any significant developments in the future.

If you dont want to have it serviced and you dont plan on using the trainer port, then open the unit and do a little surgery on the mono jack. Ive never seen the inside of a DX6i but hell it cant be all that complicated. I may be wrong but i would think that the female jack has 2 wires running from it to the board. If thats the case it should be an easy fix to disable it altogether.

Update... Well, the problem has gone away on its own. Looking back, this had been one of the hottest Julys in years, with temperatures in the 90s. I noticed that the problem was there when it was really hot, but that it went away when it cooled down, even on the same day. Normal in the morning, stuck ON in the afternoon, and back to normal in the evening. Now that we have highs back down in the low 80s, the problem has gone away. This is really odd. I bought this unit used during a local swap event, in the middle of winter. Never had this problem until the record-breaking temperatures. I wonder if this is why the unit was being sold? Regardless, it is working just fine again.

Hot makes things expand. I suspect something is touching when hot that doesn't when cooler. I still think the buddy port is the culprit.
