. . . my favorite battery just keeps on going and going. It has survived more than a few crashes, it was also in my SC for about 15 hours when I lost it over the Fens. For reference it is a 3s Turnigy 1300mah. Thanks for that, Geoff. Duly noted. I have been using Loong-Max Tipple 20C 1300mAH for about a year now and very satisfied with them. But I may well try one of those Turnigys. (Some very good days here last week, light winds, ideal flying. But now low pressure has returned, bringing rain and high winds, with more forecast all week. Good old UK weather!) Renard, I'm 99.9% sure the Tipple's are 5C charge rate, if you've got a charger that's capable of pumping out at a rate upto that you can reduce your charge times considerably. Also consider Fly's statement about 97% of the charge. I often just put in enough till the pack is registering 4.1v/cell when time is against me. You'll still get a reasonable flight out of the pack, just a little shorter than a fully charged pack.

Note - the Loong Max batteries were one of the brands that were made with very good cells and lousy construction, at least the ones we got in the states a couple years ago. They broke balance taps off if you looked at them wrong. If you didn't catch that problem you could ruin the battery in a single flight. Then, of course, you considered them to be garbage. We saw the same here a few years back, the first LM packs I got had very stiff balance leads, prone to snapping. I got more some time later and the balance leads were silicone and nice and bendy. I had one pack of the old style which required repair, the others have been fine. Although I've not bought any packs for well over a year, I don't think the "Standard" (1C) LM's are available from GC anymore. All replaced with the 5C Tipple variants. Most annoying is I used the 500mA 2 cell in my MPX Fox conversions, I've got two of em and want more. No longer available, and nothing of similar size/weight.

Yes, they are 5C charge. Can anyone in UK recommend a (reasonably priced) charger for these batteries? I'm still using the stock SC charger, which seems to take forever to charge. In addition, for my Mini Super Cub I use Overlander 25C 450mAH 2S batteries, so it would be useful to charge them quickly, too I enjoy flying, but anything technical, like chargers, leaves me bewildered. Which is why I appreciate the advice from you and other clever people.

It's supplied with various cables but you'll need a power supply. An old PC PSU is a cheap option for that and simple to do.

Renard - I have a buddy that sounds similar to you, loves to fly, but electronically challenged. Before you buy ANY other charger I strongly recommend you download and read the instructions. That charger drove him nuts.
Best bet would be get together with someone that has one and go over it. Those kind of chargers (there are a LOT of those particular clones) are NOT plug-and-play friendly for some people. There is a thread with literally hundreds of questions of "how do I?" over and over again. They get it based on forum recommendations and then don't have even a remote clue how or where to start. The instructions are NOT decent for a lot of people (fine for others) and there aren't any better ones. Just because someone thinks it's easy doesn't mean it will be for you.
Do a search on YouTube for [Accucel-6 +use] and watch some videos. It's essentially the same charger.
The charger itself is fine. I'm concerned about the charger-user interface.
Unfortunately the simple to use chargers are very limited for the most part. The better chargers are more complicated.
NOTE - for folks that want to charge a 2200mA or larger lipo @ 5C you DO NOT want this charger, it's too puny. It's a 50W/5A charger and you need > 100W/10A. You'll need the power supply to feed it also. This kind of power costs more than trainer plane level. Depending on your need maybe a lot more. It's not hard to buy chargers alone that cost the same as a new stock Cub.

Hi Renard As usual Fly is right. I have one of these chargers branded as Imax B6, it is essentially the same and they all use the same user manual which is anything but user friendly. It is fine for me as I have now mastered the three programs that I use. They are 3s Lipo, 2s Lipo and 8 cell Ni-Mh. To do anything else requires a lot of reading and pressing of buttons and even then I am not sure I have got it right. www.giantcod.co.uk/images/manuals/GTP-A6P%20Manual.pdftry this link for a copy of the manual, see what you think. Without knowing you personally I'm not sure what charger to recommend. This one may work: Cellpro 4s GOLD Charger - www.revolectrix.com/4sGold_description_tab.htmThey have European agents but none in the UK (see link at the bottom of the page). It's a US company but the chargers are made and shipped out of Asia. It's one of the easiest and safest lipo chargers available. I have 2 of them. One button to sort through a 'circular' menu. Charges through the balance tap only. 4A max. Will charge 1-3C on your choice and do so safely. It was doing that way before 5C charging became common. Put it in the proper setting, plug in to the tap, and it will figure out the battery and charge it right. It's hard to screw this one up. You do need a power supply (5A minimum or a lead-acid battery) and an adapter with the proper fittings for you battery taps (jst-XH) for most folks. The 4S Multi does other chemistry and is more complicated, but useful if you want those functions. Charges lipos the same. Their higher power chargers are the best chargers available-highly recommended.
