Hello guys,
I am new to flying (2 months) and want to convert my super cub to brushless. This is what i have so far and wondering what else i may need:
Topstar E480 Brushless Outrunner Motor (3710-1100KV) Hobbywing Pentium 40A Brushless ESC with UBEC (2) Power HD HD-1160A Mini Servo 1 Motor Mount for HZ Super Cub & Spitfire Lipo 11.1v 1300mAh (14.43Wh)
Any ideas of what i left out/forgot would be greatly appreciated.

I would expect that the battery is going to struggle to deliver sufficient power for that motor. At best you'll have pretty short flights if you use it in anger at all, at worst you'll have a puffed (dead) pack.

Good point-I didn't look the motor up:
Recommended Setup:
40A brushless motor ESC 3S LiPO and at least 2200mAh. Prop Selection: Remember to always use props designed for electric motors, nitro props are heavier and might overload the motor. With 3S LiPO: 11x5.5E

So with a larger battery this setup should be OK? I have a dx5 radio with the included receiver.
I have a 9x6 prop, so i should go lager? I was considering either a 2 or 3 blade prop, comments?
I am hoping to get a bit more speed then the stock LP. Can i expect that with this build?

Even with this prop I'd expect it to be perform significantly better than stock. A speedy SC is not an easy thing to create as the airframe is quite draggy. As for 3 blade props, nice if you want a scale look, a lot more inefficient than a 2 blade.

One more question.
I broke an old wing I am thinking of cutting 3 inches of each side so I can use it. It did a cartwheel and broke the tip off one side a while ago.
So the wing is basically 3 inches shorter on each side, I cut it with a band saw straight. The wing no longer has a curved edge.
I also cut in a carbon fiber rod lenghwise to reinforce it. I put it 1\3 of the back from the front edge. Wanted to make it a bit stronger.
It might just crash and burn, thoughts?

8 years later, yes it will crash and burn. But thats okay you wont have time to fly until 8 years later anyhow!...

That will work great. You can also use wooden skewers the next time you crash it. Those wings have so much lift that you could cut half of it off and it would still fly. You would need a little more throttle though. When i was learning I usually had two or three extra wings laying around usually frankensteined though.
Also you can make a cub go fast, I built a reinforced supercub that clocked close to 70mph.
