Has anyone used a Great Planes Rimfire 400 brushless motor, (28-30-950), in their SC? I have one and am thinking of mounting it with a Custom RC mount & 25amp ESC. I was thinking of this motor because it will work with the stock SC LiPo's. The specks are: Dia., 28mm Lngt., 30mm Shaft dia., 3mm Weight, 54g (1.91 oz.) KV, 950 RPM/V Input V., 7.4-11.1 Max. Constant current, 14A Max. Surge current, 20A Max. Constant watt, 155W Burst watt, 220W Prop sizes: 8X4-10X4 Max model weight, 32oz. Thanx, Bugle

A little more go than the stock motor without being massively overpowered. You'll probably need to add some weight upfront as it's a fair bit lighter than stock. Mounting the ESC in the cowl will help with that. Oh, and welcome to the forum.

The custom rc mount is great. Works with my 480 brushless, 30 amp esc, and 18003S lipos just great. Adds some zip without being terribly overpowered. So your setup should work fine. Just watch you CG (center of gravity) which might change with that setup as has been mentioned. I have added ailerons, balsa struts reinforced with monokote mounted throught the fuse to a new balsa battery/esc box with the lipo laying flat. Helps spread the weight over a longer area of the fuse which in my opinion helps flight response better than a vertical battery. Hope it all comes together and flies great for you. Give a buz if you want any info or pics. Keep em' flyin'.
