Any other super cub fliers in my area ? Hi and welcome, Not everyone on here has insurance as far as I aware. In the UK you get it included with your subscription to the BMFA, if you are not in a club you want a country membership, this years fee was £29, but they reduce that if you join part way through the year. I don't think there are any on here who are round your way, but I know there are some Devon dwellers on RCMF.

Welcome aboard, snoopy. Without going into details, my first flight resulted in a very high-speed nose dive into a car park. It could have seriously injured someone or damaged a vehicle. Luckily, it missed the nearest car by about two feet. No exaggeration, a small child might have been killed or an adult blinded. Imagine the lawsuit I would have faced. Just this evening, a friend's Spitfire suddenly lost it on a high speed pass and two of us had to duck. I reckon insurance is a no-brainer. As ginginho says, BMFA membership with inclusive insurance is an excellent bet at just £29 a year. You also get their monthly flying magazine, lots of interesting stuff. Incidentally, the BMFA say that most of their claims are for fingers damaged by props! It could be you . . . As for clubs - not essential. In fact, there is a thread on here somewhere with many negative remarks about clubs. Happy flying!

Hi Newbie. I am also new to rc flying. Have been wanting to start from the age of 14 but never had the chance until now. Going to get my bird in the next few days and cant wait. I to dont want to join a club, maybe some time in the future but for now i like the idea of flying in a quite field with just a couple of other pilots at most. I am going to spend a great deal of time on a sim to get some practice. I am living in Exeter by the way. Happy flying Ands

Do I need to discharge the Lypo completely before first flight? it seems to be taking forever :/ All advice most welcome, cant wait to get her in the air Do not totally discharge your LIPO, you risk damaging it! It shouldn't go lower than 9.0V total (3V per cell) at rest.
