I wanted to share this being that I learned the hard way. I hope as more beginners like myself come to this site that they will learn from my carelessness.

Very nice, way to plug the board. How do you secure your battery?

Very nice, way to plug the board. How do you secure your battery? I put the velcro strap back in, just in a different spot. Works pretty good.

thanks for posting that good to know just wished I see that yesterday
before flying my cub for the first time I went out to the football field
great day to fly no wind or over cast got it up to 150 ft or so had it at a
nice level flight thought I better put the ACT on because I was new to
flying as soon as I hit the switch the plane went nuts and took a nose
dive ended up with a bent prop shaft shattered cowl wing broke in
3 places busted up gear box where is nothing like watching a $170 crashing into the
ground all because of the ACT that horizon hobby said would prevent
crashes BS so I emailed yesterday to raise H@#% with them
of course have not hear anything back I think they should replace
it since they sell it knowing that the ACT is worthless junk but claim
it prevents crashes as you can tell I'm not HAPPY
anyway hope to see more of your videos

An excellent video, well worth the time you have spent on it.
The only addition I personally would have liked to see is mods to the pathetically weak wing-strut hooks. I broke so many and bought many new struts before modding them with paper clips, since when no trouble.
Your video is exactly the sort of thing Dylan proposed should be on this board as a Sticky, for the benefit of newcomers. The comment by highflyer50, who says he wished he had seen the advice earlier, reinforces that view. Newbies tend to search for solutions only AFTER crashing their new plane - how much better if they could read a Sticky and so prevent their disaster!
I do wish SCC would reconsider his decision that such Stickies are not necessary. Like Dylan, I strongly think they would be beneficial in getting all the essential stuff in one place at the top of the board.

Nice video mate, and thanks for the nod :-) How did you know my name anyway Newbie? You been researching my old posts huh? creepy. I just had a look as some of ur old posts and just realised I have helped you a few times, I helped you buy your first lipo, which is a highly significant event in RC culture, somewhat on par with being shown how to ride a bike or shave for the first time. If I'm ever in California I'll let you buy me a beer and introduce me to some of the local babes When you're ready to upgrade your landing gear, there are some nice threads around on making aluminium landing gear struts, excellent idea when it comes to reinforcing your plane to be able to take more damage.

I've seen posts of others using your name.

I've written HZ about ACT and about their chargers (I've had 5 die). No response at all. Unfortunately most folks learn the problems with ACT after the fact. In general, most folks learn EVERYTHING after the fact...the hard way.

. . . In general, most folks learn EVERYTHING after the fact...the hard way. Which is exactly the point I make in paragraphs 3 and 4 of my post above! Wouldn't it be great if newcomers could come on here and instantly find a store of wisdom (Stickies) so that they DON'T have to learn things the hard way.

What was the weather like? They do state in their manual that if you are in certain conditions like that to disengage ACT. Keep us updated on what happens.

In case you're wondering how the ACT sensors work, each sensor is a CD-cell, I used to have a 130-in-1 electronics science kit, and a CD-cell was one of the components on the board. CD-cells are basically light activated variable switches, I think the cub is set up so that it's supposed to read more light coming from the top sensor than the bottom. If it reads more light coming from the bottom sensor then the ACT kicks in and either saves your plane, or crashes it for you so that you at least don't have to feel so bad about your crappy piloting skills. Marvelous technology.
