Teehee, nice one. I read the RCG thread and see that you did it as you'd not seen a build like that before, a good enough reason for me. I'd agree with the guy about removing the cowl and making a nice nose for it, aesthetics purposes only but you may struggle with the CoG if you don't have much out front to balance it out.
70 mph eh? Did you change the AoA, if not I'll bet you'll get massive lift!

Wants to climb, but backing off on the throttle helps it settle down. Remember I have added almost 50% to the flying weight. I am more worried about breakup then anything else. Wing has 2 carbon fiber rods inset on top since I could not inset them on the bottom because of the 1\8 inch ply I used to mount the fans. The wing is plenty stiff. There are other problems to deal with when you make a change to power like this. For example, will the control surfaces be large enough to battle the thrust, or will the added weight just turn it into a flying anchor that will eliminate its agility. Anyway, when I maidened her, she had unbeleivable lift, and I was sure I was not going to fly it WOT without applying down elevator. Also, landing is at probably twice the speed as the stock cub, so flaps are in her future. COG was off by 3\4 on an inch after completion. No problem and easy to fix. Wing load almost doubled, but again not that big of a problem as long as those rods hold. This has been a fun project and by the time I am finished, I will post a complete build video in case anyone wants to copy. I have submitted specs to both Eflite and Hobbyzone. This can be a kit with about a 400.00 price range RTF. Should have a flight video posted by 4\18.

Answer:2 Carbon Fiber rods. I used my mini router and made slots in the top of the wing and epoxied in. I weighted down the end of the wing during this process. Then forced the rods in and clamped while drying. Then used latex caulk to cover. A very thin layer. Each rod is 30 inches. I would have preferred to place them on the underside of the wing, but the insets I made to mount the edf,s on just didnt allow it. I feel pretty comfortable with the wing now. As soon as i get home this weekend I am changing struts to adjustable carbon fiber. This may be overkill, but the added weight is negligible. At this point, weight is a great concern.

Tiger Cub strut modification. I used Aero aluminum tubibing and slid it over the stock struts. Works pretty well.

Oh by the way, the post above by "Mike Ramos" is not mine. Weird people out there. I had not maidened the cub until I posted the video.

what happened to the initial post with that awesome pic of the cub with the twin EDFs? Also, what do you hope to achieve by putting aluminium tubing over the wing struts? Even if the tubing did reinforce the long part of the struts, it's not the long part of the struts that breaks, it's the ends.

I have not had a strut break....yet. The new struts stifin the wings and that was the only reason i used them. The wing tends to flex down and this has helped. But I may need to look at just replacing the struts completely. I dont know what happend to the pics but I will re post them now.
