I'm pretty sure the LP Super Cub uses the same motor as the old . . . I mean CLASSIC Super Cub. I'll have to compare mine to my neighbor's LP. Anyway, the LP Super Cub uses a 3S, so you should be good. I'm sure the other guys will chime in with hard facts shortly, just in case I've misspoken.

Okay, I just checked and it's the same exact part number on HobbyZone.com. I think the thing you really want to think about is protecting the other components from being fried. The RX/ESC is NOT interchangeable.

The old STOCK RX/ESC combo is exactly the same as the 'new' LP RX/ESC ---but the jumper is pulled to make it lipo friendly. See this link: supercubclub.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ts&action=display&thread=988The bind-n-fly Cub uses an entirely different RX/ESC based on Spektrum 2.4. You should down prop to an LP version of 9x6, a GWS 10x6, or an APCe 10x5 to not burn out the motor and/or fry the ESC. BTW - ultimately you will actually learn more with that level of power than the over powered versions. With lots of power you end up flying a prop dragging a chunk of foam called an airplane around behind it. It's not the same experience.

When you buy the float kit, it comes with a 10x8. I've had no problems with this so far, even hauling the camera around. I cruise around at half throttle. My neighbor runs his really hard and it's been fine as well.

My neighbor runs his really hard and it's been fine as well. And I don't understand that. That 10x8 system pulls around 18-19A at WOT. Near as I can figure the ESC is ~15A. Since HZ went lipo THEY propped down to the 9x6 and that pulls ~13A at WOT on 3S. LOTS more ESC are frying on a routine basis since they went lipo. I've got to think it is pretty close to it's maximum spec. They still recommend 10x8 on floats. Go figure.

Cheaper and easier for them than manufacturing another size I'd wager.

you said the 10x8 pulls 18-19 at WOT what does the 10x6 gws pull? ~13A full lipo, 3S @ WOT. Here are some (limited) tests. supercubclub.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=batt&thread=1831&page=1New fliers generally don't have wattmeters. So little testing has been done on the stock system. The only rigorous prop tests were pulled off line a long time ago and the LP version was 2 still years away. Remember folks, EVERYTHING in the LP is EXACT SAME STOCK ELECTRONICS as an old 7-cell Cub. They improved nothing. You get a lipo, a new smaller prop, and they pull the jumper. Sure, more power, but there seem to be some issues that result from the stressed electronics.

If I had a wattmeter I'd check. But I don't It's been fine on both of these planes. I'll let you know when/if it fails. My buddy tried the 9x6 and floats...not enough prop. He said it was really difficult to get it up off the water and it flew like crap.
