Hello All!
First...My friends call me "Mac"...I'm a Scotsman originally from New England. Now living on FL's east coast.
Online, I go by Maladroit -- which means "someone who is non-adroit, clumsy, and bumbling."
This describes me to a "T" -- especially when I'm strapped-in behind my DX6i and looking for my next crash site.
I purchased my Super Cub LP today from a private seller in CA who received it as a gift -- but he'd already made the transition to RC boats. It'll be here next week.
How did I chose the SC LP, you ask?
Well, I started with a few micro helis, then caught the disease. Addiction soon followed.
After purchasing 6-7 helis, I got sick and tired of hitting walls and furniture in my house and wanted to get outside. But on FL's east coast, the winds are strong from Dec. through the spring. I did not do well with helicopter$ and wind.
The HBZ Champ got me out the door -- despite those winds. I flew very early before the winds arrived on most days. Soon I could fly the lil' Champ in winds up to 7-10mph.
After I got "pretty good" with the Champ, I decided on a trainer. The Airfield Sky Trainer (Version 4) 5-chl with 55" wingspan was my dream plane. I've loved Cessna planes since I was a kid.
But I kept hitting everything but the sky with it.
Then I decided on something smaller. That was the 31.5" Airfield P-51 Mustang (blue nose). BIG MISTAKE. That plane is so fast that I had nightmares of it hitting a car, person or even my poor old dog with it.
Finally, someone said, "Get the Super Cub! It'll get you into a larger wingspan, but you'll feel comfortable because it will handle a little bit like the smaller Champ."
So, while the 55-inch Sky Trainer sits and waits for parts and the Mustang waits until the day I can fly fast, I am very happy to see how popular and fun these Super Cubs are.
I just cannot wait to fly this plane.
