Hi all,
It seems I lost track of time while flying today, and instead of landing after 8 minutes like a good boy, I left it until 10. Rather than the cut out kicking in while I'm at altitude, giving me time to recover, it kicked in at the worst time possible, while landing.
From where I was, it looked like the plane clipped a tree on the side of the reserve, and fell to the ground. Turns out the plane actually clipped a tree on the opposite side of the road, then landed ON the road! Luckily it had the navigation lights blaring away or it might have gotten run over (or more importantly, that the plane didn't land on an oncoming car!).
It's also fortunate that we have much wider roads here than in the UK, where a model airplane landing on the side of the road could hold up traffic for miles! The only damage done to my plane was that the foam nose broke just behind the firewall (but was still held intact by the profilm). Easily fixed with a bit of epoxy ;D
I'll post the link to the youtube video as soon as it goes live :-)

It's also fortunate that we have much wider roads here than in the UK,.... It's not the width that has any bearing on this tale, it's the traffic on it.

WOW.
Looking at the date and time stamp on your video, it appears you were flying inverted the whole time. Well done Dill.

In the good ol' U.S. of A we have booth: WIDER roads with MORE traffic than both Australia and the UK combined Don't you just love us? We make everything bigger just in case the rest of the world though we were wussies... We get 2 cars for each member of the family and commute an average 30 miles each day Oh oh oh! And model planes will not make it 2 seconds on the side of or on the road. ;D

lol US: That Ford F350 would swerve, run through the ditch just to see 35' monster tires destroy it. Or someone would just steal it before it even hit the ground. ;D
kidding.
