I dont understand why TXs have a range testing mode which from what I can gather is about 30yds. Why? Surely if your flying your plane much higher than this, surely you would want to range test at least the length (or as far as you can) of your flying field! Confused! John

I have a Hobbyking T6A, and it has a bind/range test function on it, but I have no idea how to use the range test feature.

Not tried it on my DX6i neither Dill, I have range tested with my TX in normal mode, and will be again tonight with my HK RXs. I will use my lights (unattached to plane) with my Turnigy receiver controlled switch. I will dangle them from the upstairs Tower window (Spare bedroom) and walk as far in the adjacent field until I can no longer see the lights being switched on/off. I intend to do this in normal flying mode. Why do otherwise??? If anyone can hopefully tell me what the point in range test mode is, that is a worthwile test, I will do that instead/aswell. John PS If I walk out of sight before TX still connects I will stay in mobile phone contact with my princess (locked in tower of course )

Cheers Paul but I've checked the manual P 50-51, it dosent shed any light as to why you would check with a reduced output signal. John

I've found that my lights on the turnigy receiver controlled switch can be used for range testing as well. I've got the jumper on the turnigy switch set so that the default setting (for when it's getting no signal) is for it to flash on/off.
I range tested it when the wire to my satellite receiver snapped, and it reduced my range down to about 250 meters. Whilst I was on a night flight the other day, I also noticed that the lights seemed to start flashing for about a second, I assumed that must have been from a break in signal.

1.with model on and resting on ground, stand 30 paces(approx 90feet) away from model.
2.face the model with transmitter in ur normal flying positon.place the transmitter in range test screen pull n hold the trainer switch.this causes reduced power output from transmitter.
3.you should have total control of the model with button depressed at 30 paces(90 feet)
This is out the manual for my dx6i.. it reduces the power so surpose if its 30paces with switch held on with full power would be double that at 180+ feet??

I dont no then!!?? Whats a jumper! Its a connector, usually I believe with at least 2 ends on it, that when moved position across a set of pins somewhere on the electronic device, effectively rewires it to a different circuit for different functions. Your stock RX has one for different battery types. Hard drives have them too but usually with larger connectors (more pins) if I recall. This is a very rough description. John
