The range test feature reduces transmitter output by a certain amount (not sure of the exact number, it doesn't matter). The theory is that if your aircraft will respond at 30 meters at the reduced transmitter output, then it will respond at full range with full transmitter output. I almost always do a range test before the first flight of the day. I get that, but as an example. If you have a problem with your car gearbox the mechanic wouldnt only test the car in 1st and 2nd gear....he would test the full range of gears surely? Anyway no worries I have long accepted that testing half power is good enough, whether I understand why is another matter! Thanks for the response though. John
