The lipo should be fine. You mean 9x4.7? No one I know makes a 9x4.5 but you get some weird stuff over there (or maybe we do). Generalization - Props with fat blades and small hubs are called slow fly. They provide more thrust at the expense of eating more amps. They have an RPM limit and can blow apart if exceeded. Floppy ones like GWS SF do poorly with too much RPM. Skinny props with fat hubs are direct drive/thin electric/hyperdirive. They are designed for higher RPM. This site separates them out so you can get a feel for them: www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id=V669449You may want to watch the video in post #32 on this thread: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1320426&page=3It is by no means the definitive answer but it addresses the problem. The ONLY way you can tell for SURE what a prop will do on a particular motor is run it with a wattmeter in line. I'm guessing on the 9x5 DD and if that IS a 9x4.7SF it will be a completely different prop. Probably will work.

Yes, I found it, APC thin electric. It should be very similar to the GWS 9x5 DD.
BTW-Folks use GWS-SF for the slow fly and GWS-DD (sometimes HD) for the direct drive since the name convention that GWS uses for ALL it's parts are just weird. It helps to know that the sizes for the 2 different types don't overlap a lot. GWS tend to be softer, more flexible, and cheaper. APC are stiffer, and more expensive. Personally I like both types of APC, use a lot of the GWS-DD, and think the GWS-SF mostly are unsuited for anything but VERY slow flight (highly geared or low RPM applications)

Uh huh! The stock SC is just a teaser for what comes after. The stock charger is one of the least capable electronics in a kit full of low end stuff. In order to make a really decent starter kit I think the starting price would be more in the $500-600 range, then no one would even attempt it. But after you end up replacing everything but the foam, that's where you end up.
Do you have Harbor Freight stores there?

I think maybe you are dangerous to yourself. Cheepish and lipo charger shouldn't be used in the same sentence in my book. Like a transmitter, a decent charger is a core component of a flying fleet. You don't need to spend $100 but you shouldn't cheap out. No idea what choices you have over there. This is my choice for safe, easy, and reliable-The FMA Cellpro 4s: www.fmadirect.com/Hands down one of the best lipo chargers out there. You WILL need a power supply and appropriate connectors for the balance tap. This is true for most chargers. I'm sure a lot of folks will point you at the Accucel-6 and a half dozen other clones of that unit. www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=7028&Product_Name=Turnigy_Accucel-6_50W_5A_Balancer/ChargerI would strongly recommend you download the manual and read it before you buy it (manual is pretty much the same for all the clones). Click on the [Files] tab in the link to the product to download it. The Cellpro 4S essentially has no 'how do I...' thread, it's that easy to use. The Accucel-6 thread is 168 pages and still going. Some folks just can't cope with it. www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=886698&highlight=477&page=168You need to judge for yourself whether you can deal with it. Do your homework.

Pauliepilot: Best UK site for RC bits'n'bobs is Giantcod.co.uk. Pretty much best everything: Prices, delivery, service. Also has it's own forum, which can be really helpful (just don't ask for any help with your cub, cos they won't!)
PS: Flydiver: It's a fun sport but an unforgiving one. Amen, Brother!

Agree with Toff, the bigfish is very competatively priced and good service. For a charger they GT series are OK, I've had a GTA-6 for a few years with minimal problems. Rob at the site has various to suit requirements and budgets. A mate has the 5 version and is happy enough with it too. Worth checking the lipos too. The LoongMax's are one of the cheaper but good quality packs out there and the Tipple generation seem to be of similar quality at reasonable prices.

I payed £20 for a overlander 2200ma 25c 3s was that good fm lhs penn models! The one I have is the base A6, change out of £35. Unless you have bigger packs, tipples or the like that can charge at greater than 5C, or want to charge multiple packs simultaneously, this will do. I parallel up 2 2250 20C's and charge at 3.6A (1.8 per pack) reducing the charging time by half. If you consider this route, find the threads on here about the risks involved and what you need to achieve it (board and harness etc). Both require a power input, a car battery will do it or a simple alternative is to use an old PC power supply tapping off of the 12v lines (yellow IIRC) and ground (black) or even a laptop P/S (as long as the output voltage isn't too high). You may struggle to find something that can output the amperage constantly required for the A6-10 when at full tilt unless you can find a old server P/S.
