Hey all, I've found some awesome fully contained LEDs on ebay that I think would be ideal for navigation lights. Each strip has 24 LEDs in it, so you could use them to light up your cub like a christmas tree. They come in red, green and white. Search ebay for "24cm LED", there are tonnes of them on there The other ones I really like are the wedge type T3 globes here: www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Fmini-wedge.htmlAll the globes run off 12v, and have self contained resistors, so wiring them up will be easy. As soon as I get some spare cash I'll be putting some on myself.

I saw those before I just didn't want to spend $30 on lights yet. But they do look cool and run off the x-port. Let us know if you go that route and how they work.

It looks like a pretty decent package, especially since it's powered off the X-port, but I'd prefer the more traditional lighting scheme of green red and white. It would be interesting to see just which two pins it draws the power from, the X-port certainly would be a handy power source! I welcome anyone else to add to this thread for general navigation light oriented chit chat

I am still pretty new the hobby and would have no idea about how to wire up any thing that was not as simple as just using the xport. Any guidance on this would be appreciated.
I will be doing something in the way of lights at least by next winter. When I bought the plane I was not aware how little wind it would take to keep me grounded so dusk/night flying after the winds calm down will often be my only time to fly despite the fact I live in south fl.
I am hoping that the summer months will provide calm winds pretty much every day. During the summer we tend to get all our high winds at one time in the form of tropical storms.

Anyone ever try the glow necklaces like you kids wearing at the fair. I can get them at the local dollar store. They are thin and light but not sure if they would be bright enough. Just activate them and tape to bottom of wing and fuse.

I just have the battery taped in beside the receiver. its sturdy enough. The LEDs are sitting in a hole I made in the foam with a screwdriver and then glued. I added another white LED inside the fuse after I took the pic which lights up the body.

My super cub lp is scheduled for delivery today, finally. I am definitely going to need to do something like this soon because the wind situation here is not great. My best chances to fly will be early mornings and dusk. I'd hate to lose sight of her.
