I have been connecting a handheld digital fish weighing scale to the tail of my SCLP. The hook fits in the tail wheel spring wire loop perfectly. With the aircraft on the ground I then give her WOT and measure the thrust on the scale in Lbs and Ozs. Is this a reliable way to measure and compare thrust of different props?

I believe thats pretty much the way most do it. I don't suppose it's going to be massively accurate but it will be useful for comparing motors/props.

There are commercial or do-it-yourself thrust stands for motor only that are more accurate but for your purposes it'll work. That's the way I do it. Careful everything is well fixed. It's ugly if it gets away at WOT.
