Went to this show on Sunday. It was great to see the big birds. I really was more interested in seeing the warbirds fly, but I had to leave early and they did'nt get going till the afternoon. Still had a good time. I did get some vid. www.vimeo.com/4475258

Wow, those were some pretty large helicopters. I've seen large RC planes before, but this was the first time I've seen any large helicopters in action. Nice video.

Nick. Have a good day at Thames valley, hope the weather holds out for you. Heres a vid of a show I went to last weekend at Bickley, Kent. A fantastic day watching the planes. All electric. www.vimeo.com/4667411Paul, Just got back from there, via the local hostelry to wet the whistle. I had a great day out, it was quite windy and rained a couple of times but this didn't stop a load of fabulous display flying including a pair of jet powered hawks in Red arrows livery, a 250+ Mph cat-type jet and a heli going backwards while inverted!! Most impressive flying by a guy from the channel islands doing 3D stuff, he has made up some of his own manoveurs including a "knife edge walk" !?!? There was an electric powered Hawk (or very similar airframe) flown by a guy from "Motors and Rotors" which was a 10S lipo set up, 3,800 watt! That was frighteningly quick for a leccy plane. There were a bunch of guys from Germany flying various things as well, the weirdest I think was a 1/2 scale glider fitted with a jet engine above the wing! Quite a few warbirds were taken up too, all very pretty. I think they were all flown by the various traders there. P-51D's, P-38, corsairs, spits and others. Most were IC but a few electrics too. I realised the attraction of wet fuel powered models when a P-51D went full tilt downwind out of a dive. Lovely sound! The last warbird I saw was a big warthog (twin jets) that actually dropped four bombs! The pilot was from Al's hobbies and I overheard that he is one of the best model pilots in the UK. The additions to the hanger are a Twinstar II and a multiplex Fox (19.5" wing span for 7 quid ;D) that I've got a tiny B/L and 500mAh 2S lipo that will become my garden flyer Pat, it's typical isn't it. I remembered to take the camera, as soon as I tried to take a picture, the batteries were flat! Another SC owner (son of a pal) had a rather nice camera with him and got some shots, I'll try to get him to post his pictures. I've got a couple on my phone but don't think they are any good. I'll check them and stick em on her if they aren't too bad.

For anyone who'd like to view some pictures from the TVMAS, check out www.rcmf.co.uk/4um/index.php/topic,50951.0.html and www.glos-mfc.co.uk/blog09/may09/blackbush.htmI forgot to mention the A-10 in my previous posting. It did a bombing run and dropped 4 whistling bombs which was a lovely touch. It managed to flame out one motor during the flight, so the pilot brought it down on only one but still managed a perfect landing with a cross wind in excess of 20mph. You can see how strong it is in the video in the first link, Reply #38.

The rcmf site needs membership but the other link works - man some big birds there, must have fun transporting them about?
