This is what happens when you fly when it's too windy and it carries your plane away ! ;D

Yep, gotta her back, only minor damage on the tail surface. Little bit of tape and we were back in business. See other post in Crash forum titled "Cub Nose Fell Off" to see what I did to it next. Almost decapitated my senior citizen neighbors !!! They are ok though.

Yeah, gotta watch out for those neighbors. Flying only lasts for a while but you gotta live next door to them a lot longer. Am glad you got the plane back with such minor damage (well, nothing a little glue can't fix). My preferred tree retrieval method is a 1/4 ounce weight on some 50 lb monofilament and slingshot it over the branch, when the weight comes down join both ends of the monofilament and shake that branch for all it's worth (cursing at the tree doesn't help get the plane back but it sure makes me feel better)

Fortunately it was close enough to the ground I could just reach up and get it.
Neighbors is a relevant term where I live. They are my neighbors but the live about a 1/4 mile away. They have a 60acre pasture with a guest house on it. The pasture is where I fly. They just happened to be on the porch of the guest house when I lost power and glided into them. They thought it was funny. I was scared I had hurt one of them. They are both in there mid 60's.

Looks like mine did the first time I flew it! I had to run home and get an extension ladder to pull it down

I have a theory that the wavelength of light refracted by the chloroplasts within the leaves of trees interferes with the supercub's receiver and causes it to head straight towards the tree.
Anyone else experienced that?

You're absolutly right about that Dillzio, the Cub will find the only tree within a mile and crash into it. The fist year I started flying, I got really good a climbing trees. Now if I can only keep it from hitting the ground so hard. Maybe if I didn't fly so low to pratice high speed landings.

My second time out on St Patrick's day i put mine straight into a small tree. A little of the confusion with the plane flying towards me and my mind not knowing the revers rudder action. Insteasd of away from the tree i tu rned it right into it. The cub fortunatly fell straight to the ground upright on its landing gear. However it cracked the fusalage at the battery box. I glued and taped it last night. The prop had a small chunk out of one blade and now have a larger hole in the lower part of the cowling. I just ordered a new cowling and a few other spare parts.

Insteasd of away from the tree i tu rned it right into it. Reverse controls was my largest challenge, and still is one of those things I have to watch out for. One trick I learned on another website is to push the down wing up with the controls when it is coming towards you. So if the plane is flying towards you, and the wing on the right is low, push the stick towards that wing (the right) to raise it. For some reason, it's really easy for me to envision this, and has saved me from perilous situations when there is little time to think and then react.

I am sooo lucky to have good neighbors.
Very helpful jbess. My experience until now has been bump the stick in one direction, if you like the twitch in which the plane shifts towards, stick with it otherwise, well, you know.

Thats the same trick I used to get me used to flying towards me and still do. Think of the Tx stick as a prop. Move it towards the low wing to prop it up. Btw it would be the same movements inverted except the elevator.
