well i have picked up a few new planes in the last week, now i have some building to do. i found a old global kits dehaviland beaver on craigs list for $15, its a .40 size thats gonna be converted to electric power. needs to be recovered and some of the joints needs some love but its in pretty good shape for being about 10 years old. my friend made me a deal on his multiplex magister that i couldn't turn down. its a .40 size trainer that will be used for AP. i picked up a GP xpd8 while ago, and am finally getting the parts to build it. should be about 350 watts on the little thing. no pics of it. also picked up a GP combat series p-51. my friend chris has the corsair and its a amazing flyer and built like a tank. about 400 watts should make it scoot lol. while wondering around the not so local hobby shop i seen something that caught my eye, it was a Cherokee piper, the little 4 channel one made by kyosho. i haven't been able to find these in the states yet so i was surprised. kyosho make the citabira for Parkzone which is a beautiful flyer, this is also. its a bit faster and has some pretty good throws on the alirons so it moves around very well. few pics

Nice Duck, hope your missus doesn't see the receipt from the shop though I've been thinking about the kyosho minium planes, they look like fun and I assume need a little less space than the big ol' SC.

well the magister is about done, just need a prop adapter.
the minium planes fly very nice. the piper isnt a one hand flyer like the cessna 210 or the PZ citabria. i can fly either in a small gym, but the piper does fly a good bit faster then the 210 or cirabria.
i got all the wrinkles out of the p-51, now its time to speck out a motor and some servos and fly it.
the beaver is about striped of covering, im gonna hinge the doors and use magnets to keep them closed and change the colors a bit.

Hey duck, what motor you thinking about for the P-51? I have the same plane here with several motors that will work. I really want to use one of the OS26FS's I have. I think 4 stroke would be perfect for this plane since I won't be flying combat with it. Any thoughts?

4-stroke would be awesome on it, the cowl area is fairly large, i believe they are an upside down mount. great thing about the combat series is they are built to take some abuse lol. mine gonna be an electric for now. power 10-15 equivalent.

Form what I read a .15 engine is not enough.....so maybe a power 25 or similar? Just going by the thread at RCU on this one. Not saying a power 15 won't work but it may not be worth it if you have to buy 2 motors in the end. I see on wattflyer they are making them electric too. Check that thread out if you get time....maybe you have already.

well its a starting point, i have a power 32 equivalent sitting around, so maybe.... lol. my friends corsair on a park480 flew well but now has a power 10, i know the mustang is gonna need some more air seed to keep it in the air so it might need the extra power have to see how it goes. i wanna stick to 3 cell but i might have to get some 4s batts.
the beaver is gonna look nice when its done. should be nice and relaxing to fly.

well had the magisiter out today, it flys about as easy as the super cub. 1/2 throttle and it took right off. flew great at just under 1/2, and full throttle it was moving pretty good. im gonna stick the gps logger on there tomorrow and see how fast and what the average fligh speed is. it will fly no handed lol, even in 10mph winds it just kept headin straight. im running a turnigy 35-42 1250kv on it, at first i tried a 13x6 prop, 78amps WOW, soooo tried a 12x6 and it only pulling 55amps now, perfect. still need to find a servo extension lead and hook up the flaps, but i dont really need them, it will land its self.
the GP xpd8 will be maiden tomorrow. its running a turnigy 3900kv motor, so it should be a good bit faster then the stock brushed 370.

well got a video of it flying from a few days ago, kinda dark. flight times are a bit short at 12min on 4400mah batts so im gonna prop down a bit. its a bit too fast too so im gonna lose some pitch to. already working on a camera mount because this thing is rock stable.

well finally put the gps logger on the magister, it tops out at about 65mph level and im not sure yet out of a dive. also get the flaps hooked up. now i have extreamly shot take offs in the grass if i need. next thing is gonna be some 3.75" tires for it.
here is a video of the flap in action, about 5 feet and it was heading up lol.
the miglet is ready, just waiting for a clam day. gonna start cover (try to at least) the wing for the beaver.
