Been flying mine for weeks ever since they broke. About 2 passes of 4" wide packing tape lengwise on the bottom of the wing and a couple wraps perpendicular at the center where the wing halves meet and you should be good to go. Stock set up of the SC doesn't have enough power to V-max the wing even in a dive, I've tried to fold that puppy in half and can't do it !!

Keep trying. Like wire the constant flexing weakens it. Mine developed a crack after a year even with a full length carbon rod and taping. Stock motor but running 3S.

The pics are of my friends Cub but we always used and liked fishing line with swivels. No problem ever with brushless/lipo!! Can't take credit as I got the idea from someone on here long time ago but thought I'd put in my two cents. B.T.W. Struts are definitely necessary until you reinforce with carbon fiber tubes like in this 42" clipped wing setup. Don't think I ever used struts or fishing line again after that. But just to be safe.....

They do get pretty floppy after a while without a stiffener. The old wing I have with fishline can be bent around till the tips are parrallel without breaking, but its a limp biscuit now. I had to retire it, it flapped like a bird

A cheap mod one might consider is using glue on the stock struts. When mine broke, I used hot glue to wrap the ends of the struts where they broke. When the glue hardens, it works just like the hooks do, only stronger. Mine have yet to brake since then.

jon35 I use 80# kite string looped thru the eyes on the end of the wing, run it around the base of the X port tube and tie the ends together. This way there are 2 loops, each wing half is independently anchored to the fuse. Starts off tight but the wing flexes enough to make looping and unlooping easy enough, eventually the string will stretch and make it a breeze. I put a little velcro strip under the X port tube so it wraps around the tube and keeps the string at the base (gives me peace of mind that the string won't fall off by accident). This means I have to "unloop" the struts every time I change the battery but eventually is a snap.

Hi patmatgal, Did you make your own landing gear or is that an after market product you can buy?? Oh and yes your plane looks really nice. Deke

Thanks for the compliment. The landing gear is the replacement landing gear for a Parkzone J 3 (got the idea on this forum but forget from whom), attached to the Super Cubs battery box and then the whole thing secured back into the SC fuse . Used Gorilla Glue to fill the slight gap left at the front of the box (the SC fuse tapers up) Should have plenty of "springiness" but not bend. The wheels are the replacement wheels for a Parkzone Typhoon 2 3D, 2 1/2 inches and the hubs needed a reaming with a drill. I wondered if since the struts attach an inch forward on the fuse, whether that might affect the way the wing bends or handling during flights (have flown the snot out of it and haven't noticed anything though) Works for me.

Thanks patmatgal for the great info on your landing gear.
Will keep that in mind after I get tired of rebending the wire.

When you no longer HAVE to rebend the LG THEN you can consider doing that. The springy LG takes up a LOT of force from poor landings. Put on stiff LG and watch it rip the bottom out of your plane.

I can't grasp the string thing. How does it come off easy? Isn't it needed to come off easy to protect the plane in a hard landing or crash?
Chris.

I still use fishing swivels on the end of the string to hook on to the wings... I'll take some pics for ya :-)
