Okay my SC is a week old and I've only taxied down my dirt driveway. I have done most of the up grades but between the wind and work I have only managed about 10 minutes of trying to taxi and learn to drive it on the ground. It seems to be very hard to steer and the two times I tried to get airborne it just steered to the left or right and nosed in to the grass. More training needed please! I read a thread here about putting larger tire on the SC which I did but I may have made a mistake by putting one of the old wheels on as the rudder wheel. I cut it down but it may still be too big. So I'll try again this week and see if I can at least get enough speed up to crash! lol Will report...........

Give it plenty of ground practice. It did help me...I think the most important thing I did was to practice on the computer with FMS simulator...a free download can be had.
After about 11 months of flying I feel quite comfortable...but it sure took an impressive number of crashes to get me feeling that way.

Actually, taxiing is hard, esp. on a rough surface. It's easier to fly, the consequences are just larger. Leave the wing off for doing JUST that. You can't take off and are less likely to screw things up. The larger rear wheel won't hurt and may help.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I'm thinking about hand launching but I want to try a take off first. I've always thought of take offs as being shot from earth and landings as just a controlled crash.
Hobby Zone keep making those parts!

Had exactly the same problems with my first attempts. Decided to hand launch and it was all good. My problem was, I was so nervous about the flying part that I was not concentrating on the take off. I found a small amount of right rudder and up elevator on the stick did the job. Then a nice smooth increase on the throttle and add more elevator. If you decide to go for hand launch give your elevator trim a couple of clicks of up from level. Good luck. Your about to experience one of the best feelings in the world. ;D

I guess if you've been reading the various posts here you will have come across the love/hate polarisation regarding the ACT.
It's your choice when you get airborne, but I agree with Fly (and others) on this.
