Have not flown in about 3 months due to pressing other projects. This past Thursday was perfect so I headed to the field thinking I would have it to myself. Wrong! There was 8 guys flying hi-performance stuff way out of my SCs ability so I headed home. I was craving a flight or 2 so the next morning I was at the field at 7:00 and was able to fly un interrupted till the winds got really bad around 12:00. After such a wonderfiul day I went back this morning and got in 1 flight and it started pouring rain. I left and stopped off to get some coffee and in a couple of hours the sun was out and I headed back to the field. I got in about 5 flights and they were great and I said I gotta do 1 more. The wind was terrible and so I am at home and my SC is spending tonight in a tree about 50 feet up. I wasted several arrows to get a line over the limb but just could not shake it out. Tomorrow morning at 7:45 I am meeting my tree man at the field to get it down. I have no idea of it's condition but it does have an arrow in its left wing and I am out 40.00 bucks to the tree climber!Cheers! Bill.

Bill Sorry to hear about the tree, unfortunately that happens, but it's still a bummer. Had a Super Cub sitting in a tree for a week (no rain) and I got it back using a sling shot. Tied some kite string to a 3/4 oz fishing weight and kept shooting it up there to snag the plane or a branch. Finally I did get it down, but the fuse was trashed, but I got it back.

We just got back from retrieving the SC from the tree. My tree guy, I have known for 40 years is something else. He is 60 years old. He strapped on his spikes went up the tree trunk and tied himself to the tree then swung out to the 4" limb and tied himself off to it. Then swung out to the 2" limb where the plane was and tied himself off to it then broke off some new growth and dropped the plane to me and he swung back to the trunk of the tree and it was done. Broken left wing strut and a hole in the left wing where I shot it with the arrow. Headed to the hob shop now to get a new strut and a larger tail wheel. Hope to fly tomorrow. I have learned my lesson about flying a 30 oz plane in heavy wind! BUT! because of my nature I will do it again but not near trees. Cheers Bill

Glad you got it back with such minor damage. A heavy wind does spice things up.

I think you should keep the arrow hole in your wing, nice reminder if you get my drift

I stopped flying in heavy winds the day i toke it off into the wind and watched it sitting there at full speed flying backwards. It all seemed pretty cool until i realized "how the hell am i going to land this thing"
Glad you got yours back and i agree, leave the arrow hole in it :-)
