Update : Birthday Lipo's used for the first time over the weekend, Wow what a performance difference. Sunday was wonderful, the air was so still so just pottering around on 50% throttle for 15mins per 2250 pack. Still on Stock prop

Also in UK - wow, Sunday was such a clear, calm day after so much wind. Got up first light not to miss one minute. Took my Spektrum converted cub out to get used to the rudder on the left and the super smooth throttle. Still using stock motor/prop with Castle Creations Pixie 20 ESC/BEC and did loads of circuits to get used to things again. Over 20 minutes with 8 cell NiMH! In the end was in the air for over 80 minutes with my 5 batteries. Last flight was as the freezing fog came in - plane came into land with ice on the top side of the wing! Your plane looks fantastic - I haven't thought about covering mine yet. Got a new wing coming Tuesday to start my aileron mod while it's windy for rest of this week . Regards retiredbri

Thanks for the compliment Bri, to be honest it's not that difficult to cover (well the fuse isn't), if you are thinking of doing it I'd suggest the fuse first as it's mostly flat-ish surfaces. I've still not tackled the wing, I plan to aileron mod it first. You don't need a modeling iron, you can use a household one, just don't let the missus know That sounds like some steady flying to get 20 mins per 8 NiMH and seeing ice on the wing must've been a bit scary!

Hi I'm mainly flying circuits and not landing because I only have a very rough field nearby to fly from. The 8 and 7 cell NiMh are all 1400mAH "racing batteries" from Component Shop. When I had stock electrics, I would get regularly get 19mins from 7 cell 1400mAH and 13 mins with the Green batteries doing circuits. The best ever was on a concrete path and did 10 ROG and land with 4 go-around lasting 22.5 minutes. I think I'll do the aileron mod and see how she goes before covering. The Dx6i was £89.95 post free until end December. He has good lot of servos and ESC for brushless that will probably qualify for the same post-free packing. I got mine from: www.phoenixmp.com/acatalog/Spektrum_Radio.htmlRegards retiredbri

Lol Bri, I got mine from there too! Seems like great customer service, he even phoned up to ask when we'd be in so that he'd put on a courier at the right time. Nice man Stan..

Excellent looking job. Good to see the wide bands under the wing for orientation.

What a fantastic finish - worth all the hard work.
Agree with SCC about orientation. Was out Saturday with strong sun low down. I need some bright orange paint for the tops of the wings and broader bands under.
Have now joined club so have no trees, flat for miles and a large, smooth well mown grass triangle for take offs and landings - bliss after the farmers field and narrow tracks!

The orientation stripes work really well, as does the wing top with the broad stripe in the middle and tips. No problem what-so-ever at long range yesterday. I'm glad to hear you've found a club Brian, you'll need to practice your landings now you have a smooth area to use

Great looking Cub!!! Super job! I fly my SC with the DX6i and it amazes me how far the SC can get out there and I still have full control!
