Hi there. I'm new to all this so forgive me if I am repeating a topic. I was wondering if anybody had considered making a banner for the super Cub to tow. When this was attached, the Cub could be hand launched or if the aerial drop module were installed that could be utilised instead. The problem (that I can see at the moment) would be landing without destroying the banner. Does anybody have any thoughts on this? Also, does anybody know how this would affect the flight dynamics, aside from the obvious drag? I've got a few ideas i'm going to try so I'll report back when I know more.

real planes have banners that can be drug on the ground during liftoff and landing.
I don't know if you're thinking about making it out of paper or something, but just use a bunch of tape on the paper, and it will be fine as long as you land on dry cement, or dry grass.
you'll have to watch the weight if you have stock batteries, just some paper, fishing line and tape, a couple foot long banner. if you have lipos you could carry like a 30 ft banner.
or mabee make or from some cloth ($1 a yard bin at wallmart?) and spray on some letters
don't make a weak banner that would break when you land, you wouldn't be very satisfied, and if might fall apart in the air

Search through YouTube. I recall seeing a SC towing a banner video there. Besides the induced drag affecting flight, it will be a challenge to get it off the ground. Real banner tow planes actually swoop down and grab the banner which is sitting in a neatly folded pile on the ground. Then they release the banner and let it fall to the ground before they land. It's an amazing sight to watch. If you try a ROG flight, consider taking off from a smooth paved surface. I think I'd be even nervous with a hand launch. Maybe something like mylar film would work for banner material - light and strong.

i tried to make streamers and attach them to the struts, it worked okay.

if its an issue getting off the ground because of drag you could roll up the banner (streamer) and put it in the aerial drop. Then once you get some altittude push the button and let it unroll. hadn't thought of banner towing before but may try that myself with a party streamer

I have done a banner tow before, here is a video of how to make it and also of the plane flying with it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDwOHH_7lMk--You can also tie it to the tail wheel support, I used X-port so I could drop it if I had to.
