You could do that over the entire leading edge for durability. One tip for using cans. cut off the top and bottom then cut out your piece with scissors. Then take some 100 grit sand paper and remover the paint from the outer surface of the can. The paint is half the weight of the aluminum and it will be far more flexible and will hold its shape better. Always form the aluminum so the outside of the can is on the outside on the plane. If you were up to the challenge you could do the whole plane. I've done a few. Nothing looks closer to aluminum than real aluminum
