So I just got a new radio and I started inquiring on how to set it up so I wouldnt have too much control over my plane. Kind of like when you put ACT on it doesnt let the servo travel the full distance its capable of. This intern gives you less total travel of the control surface. Well, during all the confusing programming lingo they mentioned I should just adjust the control machanically and not with the radio. I was like, How in the world can you control how far your servo travels mechanically. Then they expplained and I think everyone that doesnt know already (Like me) should know this.
So - if you look at your servo's they have a little arm that comes out with a few holes in it. This is where you connect your control rod. Well, the closer you connect it to the center of the servo the less surface area it covers. (Makes sense ehh?)
Thats not the end.. If you look at the control horns at the rudder/elevator you can see they have multiple mounting points as well. These work exactly the oposit of the servo's. If you connect the rod to them at the farthest OUT point it provides less control. If you connect them close to the control surface it provides MORE control..
So for the most limited control of your plane mount the rod closest to the servo and farthest away from the control surface.
For the MOST control of you plane mount the rod farthest away from the servo and closest to the control surface...
Now - I need a veteran to tell me if this logic is indeed correct?

yep, you want the servo out to "move" the rod as far as possiable and you want the control horn all the way in so it doesn't take as much movement to operate it. that will give you alot of control surface movement, but be careful things will happen much faster not.
some of the new fancy computerized radios let you set the of throw digitally and has multiple models so you could set one up for trainer mode with limited throw and a another model for you.

yeah - I got an 8 channel radio now with 99 model memory. Pretty sweet but the programing is sort of confusing. I can mix any channel with any other channel etc but the bad part is I have no idea what that means! lol
PMIX?? SMIX???
I think I am going to try and set it up with dual rates...
