The Super Cub is set up with a nose heavy Center of Gravity (COG). The COG is ahead of the Center of Lift (COL). This is a stable airplane. When you give the cub more power the nose comes up...less power it comes down. I was wondering if you move the COG closer to or at the (COL) will the nose stay in its current attitude independent of power. For instance if I have the plane trimmed out level at 2/3 power and I go to full power will the airplane not climb? And if I cut the power will the airplane stay level until it stalls?

Once I get back in the air regularly, moving right now, I will tweak and play with my COG and see what happens. Right now I am about .1875" behind the COL. At .50" behind it is very unstable but glides forever, or so I found.

ah that is my thought. If the tail doesn't have to work as hard to keep the nose up then it should result in faster speeds, and better climb rates.
My thought is with a nose heavy airplane the wing lifts upward but the tail has to push down. With a neutral airplane the tail doesnt have to push down at all so it should be more efficient albeit less stable.
Anyone else have any theories on this?

How do we calculate or find the center of lift?

My plane balances 2.5" behind the leading edge. This is .7" behind the col. I like it this way better now that I can fly better. It seems to really improve elevator inputs.

My Cub came very tail heavy....I set my CG to prefect level....had to add nose weight to get it level.
Flies smooth and fast enough....climbs really fast and descends even faster.
And enjoys landing in Tall Pines ( must be a fetish ).

How is that? Stock components, stock airframe, it would be hard to have it not right. Or was this a mod?

SC came stock tail heavy if that is what you are asking ?
I had to add weight in the nose to level it out
Flies great, climbs great, descends great
even lands in tree's great ( mind of it's own-not so great )

SC came stock tail heavy if that is what you are asking ? That's what I was asking. Seems improbable. In general they come a tad nose heavy which is more suitable for a trainer. I'm puzzled what would do that.
