Here is a diagram of my brushless mount. I used the stock gearbox and cut the shaft carrier off. This mount allows you to keep the factory thrust angles with no measuring. Here is my diagram, Hope this helps someone Moose Here is a link to mooses motor mount (SCC Admin) www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=5382699

Hi moose Your motor mount idea is definitely going to end up in my SC. I love the simplicity of it.

That is awesome! I do like the rigidness and simplicity.

Moose, what motor and ESC are you using? I'm looking to upgrade as well. Thanks, Mike

Hey Mike, I have found the park 450 from eflite to be the best hands down for the SC. However I am still in testing phases of a few cheaper models and will hopefully get to get you's results of that testing this week.

I got my Park 450 mounted along with an Eflite 22A ESC, JR electronics, ailerons, lipo battery, etc, etc, etc.... Will try to post pics soon. Been too windy to fly it, but I've been taxiing around ;D

Neat... thanks for posting that!
I have a CHEAP ($22 with mount and a free prop) GWS BL004 on order, should have it this week. I'm using it with an Eflite 20A... I will post my results.

Moose- Great design. I like how the nylon spacers could be changed to adjust length depending on motor size, all while keeping the original thrust angles. Good job.

How did you cut the plexiglass? Also is there any way that you could get some more pics? Mabye one that shows the mount taken apart ;D Sorry but this would realy help. PS: How much would you charge to make me one of those mounts? I'd be happy to pay for work and parts. Thanks Michael

what kind of motor are you going to mount michael? You can also use some PCB (printed circuit board) fiberglass material rather than plexiglass. Both can be cut with a dremel or a table saw, hack saw, jig saw, etc. The cub gearbox can be cut down and filed/sanded flat similarly. I will make you one for $20 prepaid if you want since the gearbox itself is $10 at least I think. You need to provide the specs for your motor though.

Hey davemac2 thank you so much for getting back to me so fast. Here are the specs E-flight 450 (Same as yours) basically just what you have there including the nuts and bolts, Plexiglas. Everything so that all I had to do was mount the motor on the mount and then mount the mount on the firewall. Also how much for the work? 20$ sounds more than fine for the parts but how much would the work be. Thank you once again. Michael EDIT Sorry but one more thing does this mount fit in the stock cowl EDIT Sorry I did not look at the names I thought you were the person that made the mount in the first place. I guess I was addressing flyinmoose in the first place but if you know how to make the exact same mount as in the pic above I'd love to have one no matter who makes it. Just tell me how much total and what kind of payment and you have got your self a deal. EDIT AGAIN davemac2 By any chance do you know how to make the mount in the "Installed Himax outrunner..." Thread, in the "Motors and esc" Part of this board? Just wanted to know because I also wanted one of those. Just get back to me when you can and tell me what you can do. Thanks a lot, Michael

michael, I assume the 450 mount was designed to fit in the cowl, but you would have to confirm that with flyin moose. That mount is in my opinion a little overdone and maybe all the parts are not fully necessary such as the multiple pieces of plastic. I use PCB fiberglass material which is much stronger than plexiglass and nylon spacers similar to the mount in the pics above. $20 is all I will charge including labor. It only really takes 15mins to make it. Email me at d%vem%c2@yahoo.com (sub an 'a' for the '%' in that email address) if you want to pursue this.
cheers.
