Some of you may have seen my earlier post in the Pictures section of the "Stupid Motorists and the Flooded Salt River". Well, here's the video I took on the same day. www.vimeo.com/673820This video was taken on Feb 6, 2008, over the Salt River where it meets 67th Ave in Laveen, Arizona. Typically, this is a dry river bed, because it was dammed up-river to create the Tempe Town Lake in 1999. But because of all the recent rains we've received in the Phoenix area, the river is unusually full, which has also forced the closure of 67th Ave at that location. However, as you will see, that hasn't stopped some people from violating Arizona's "Stupid Motorist Law" by attempting to cross the river with their vehicles. I personally saw two vehicles that day start to get swept away by the river, but luckily for them, they managed to regain enough traction to get across. The Stupid Motorist Law basically states that if a motorist crosses a flooded area and needs to be rescued, then they are liable for the costs associated with the rescue efforts. This video mixes in some still shots that I took on the other flight that day, which I have cropped and resized to take advantage of the full 720p resolution. However, the video was originally shot at 640x480 and later upscaled in Adobe Premiere Elements. Both the photos and video were taken with my Canon SD40. Note: This is an HD video. It is best to view it in full-screen mode. If your internet connection is not fast enough to view this video smoothly, then toggle the "HD On/Off" button in the upper-right corner of the video window.

Great video.
I've been thinking about getting a HD vid cam, still kind of pricey for my wallet.
I'll have to look into the Canon SD40.

Actually, the camera is not an HD camera. It's just a simple point-and-shoot ultracompact camera. It shoots 640 x 480 video at 30 fps, and it cost $160. I just used my video editing software (Adobe Premiere Elements) to upscale the video to 720p.

I've made a couple of (fishing) videos with my canon z100 mini dv camcorder (cheap camera but shots in wide screen, not HD) and I use Adobe Premiere pro for editing.
Videos look great on PC and burned to DVD, but after compressing to a reasonable size for the web they don't look very good.
I'm going to look into that video hosting site you used, it has about the best video quality I've seen on the web so far.

Yeah, the guys on RCGroups.com really turned me on to Vimeo. The quality is much better than YouTube. If you decide to give it a try, be sure to follow their recommended settings for optimal results: Standard Def: www.vimeo.com/help/imovieHigh Def: www.vimeo.com/help/hd
