Very impressive Tyhorn! And very humbling; I am very happy to fly that well in broad daylight and calm conditions. You are doin it in the dark, wow. Couple questions. 1. Is it hard to maintain perspective, can you tell which way your goin and how far away the plane is? 2. Is lining up for your landing a lot harder? In other words, is there a chance for an old codger with failin eyesight and almost no depth perception to be a nite glider?

Honestly, it isn't any harder to fly at night as it is during the day. Actually when it gets way up there, it is much easier to find in the dark than it is during the day. I have had many times where I looked away to see what the kids were doing and looked back to find the SC was nowhere to be found. As I panic and scan the sky, she reappears right where I left her :-) At night those lights are so bright even way way way up there that it is so easy to keep track of what the plane is doing. The only dificult time that I have is when it is pretty low to the ground and far away at the same time. At this time, the LEDs aren't always shining towards me and the fuse might not be aiming in the right direction for me to see it well but I haven't had any problems otherwise. Actually landing isn't bad either. The first video was taken by me on my 2nd flight in the dark and the 2nd video was only the 3rd time I had it in the dark so that should tell you how much practice I had and I was still able to run the camera at the same time!
If you are wondering, the LEDs that I used came from a clip on light found at WalMart. I will post pics sometime tomorrow between meetings. Thanks.

Thanks for the info Ty. I spent some time last nite researchin lighting. Some guys go way overboard with so many led's it takes a separate battery pack just to lite em up! I like the simplicity of your system, and it does a great job of highlighting the plane. More is not always better. Some of the lighting jobs I saw were so overdone the plane was swallowed up in a blaze of light. thanks again Ty. M
