What did you use to mask off the areas that you didnt want to paint, did you just use painting masking tape? I am thinking about painting mine and i wasnt sure if i should just tape over the battery compartment or if i should just unglue it from the fues and glue it back in after im done painting, what did you do? Also did you use any clear coat after painting or does the krylon fusion hold up pretty well? P.s. your plane looks great. thanks Yeah, I just used masking tape (green) that I picked up at Autozone.. Also, I DID take everything out including the battery compartment. BTW I did also use clear (Krylon)after.

Nice looking paint job ace, well done! Thanks for the compliments, I put alot of time into this Cub. This is the Cub that I did the aileron & brushless mod on. It flies great.

I have one more question, how did you get those white numbers and letter? Did you just cut out the old ones with an exacto blade and stick them back on and paint over them? I am about to paint mine and i want the letters and numbers to be on there but i cant decide how to do it, What did you do?
thanks

I placed the original decals on so I can have perfect alignment/spacing between characters. As you can see, they are further back than stock. Then cut the outline with a new exacto knife and painted then peeled. BTW, did you know that patience is a virtue. This process teaches you patience.... like it or not!!!! Good luck on yours!!

I was just wondering if, after you painted your super cub, you noticed any significant difference in the way your plane flies due to the added weight of the paint?

Not at all!!! I have about three coats of paint, AND the clear.. I also have a reinforced wing that adds to the weight. Personally, I think the Cub flies better now. It feels more stable and can handle more wind with ease. Keep in mind also that my Cub has a brushless motor, so it's probably a little stronger than stock. It will climb to the moon if you are not careful. Hope this helps...

That's the pattern I wanted to try on my plane. I'm going to call in a favour and get some vinyl stickers cut in that pattern. Scott

Good luck, that would probably be easier than all the painting......

How were the original decals removed from the foam, prior to painting? I am trying to learn what I can about painting, so that when I do so, I will have some good tips on hand. I was just wondering how difficult or easy it is to remove the stock decals and not tear into the foam? My Cub was just ordered yesterday, so I don't have it handy at present to look over paint ideas and what may or may not work. Thanks, Huey

The decals usually peel off easily. Take your time and they shouldn't tear.
