I have an appache 2020 lipo charger that needs a 12 volt input. I've been using my car battery by just popping the hood and hooking it up. I'm too cheap to buy a seperate battery for inside. I was wondering, since the temperature around now is about 0* F, if the cold effects the lipo? I know that the temp effects nicd's somewhat, and they don't preform as well. Is this true with lipo's also? Is it ok to charge when it's so cold?
Thanks!

Cold is not the best for performance with lipo's until you draw them a bit to get them warmed up. I notice it every time I fly in the winter. I now usually keep them in my pocket or on the dash of the truck while flying to keep them warm. I would not think it is too good for them to charge in the cold either...but I am unsure. Ask these guy's. Someone over here will know for sure. www.nitrokillers.com/index.phpPower supplies can be had for real cheap for only a 2 amp draw. You might have one there and not even know it. It is simple to make one out of a power supply for things like a keyboard, type writer, calculator.... I will take a pic of one I made a while back. Kevin

Be CAREFUL with very cold charging lipos. It's NOT the charging. The trouble starts if you bring a cold fully charged lipo to room temperature >>>>NOW it's potentially OVERCHARGED!!!
You've heard of the consequences of overcharged lipo, yes?
The FMA Cellpro charger (best lipo charger I know) will not fully charge a lipo if the temp is below 50 degrees F.

The closest transformer I could find was 14.5 v and 4.5 amps. What are the limitations on the amps for the imput? I know the voltage is 10.5-15v.

Bump...
I got my lipo today! I want to charge it so I can fly it tomarrow. I want to know if I can use the above transformer. It's 14.5v and 4.5amps.
Is 14.5v too close to 15? The charge reccomends 10v-15v
Is there a limitation on the amps? Is 4.5 too much, or ok?
Thanks!

Too many amps on a power supply for the charger is ok. The charger will only draw what it needs. You don't want a power supply that provides to few amps for the charger.
If the charger is rated 10-15v, and your power supply is 14.5v you should be ok.
